How do I Fix a KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Error in Windows 8?

The KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED is a type of STOP error, also known as Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) that occurs on Windows based operating systems, and can cause them to restart or shut down abruptly. This bug check contains a value of 0x0000001E. This STOP error points out that error handler is unable to catch the exception generated by a Kernel-mode program.

This problem may occur due to any faulty hardware device or its incompatible driver, any recently installed software program, corrupt or conflicting system services, etc. In most cases, this issue can be resolved by updating the drivers of a newly installed hardware device that is causing the problem.

In order to resolve this problem, administrators should start the system in safe mode and make appropriate modifications from there. Since Windows 8 cannot be opened in safe mode by pressing the F8 or Shift + F8 keys during system startup, administrators must manually enable the legacy advanced boot menu to enter into the safe mode. Once enabled, administrators can enter into the safe mode by pressing F8 key, and then uninstall or update the drivers of the culprit hardware device.

Note: In case of updating the culprit device driver, administrators need to select the ‘Safe Mode with Networking’ option from the displayed advanced boot menu.
