How Can I Make the Default User Log on to Windows 8/Windows 8.1 Automatically?

Although the above configuration is not at all suggested/recommended due to security reasons, if you are using your Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer at your home and want to configure the OS so that the default user logs on to the computer automatically after the system starts, you must make some adjustments.

Windows 8/Windows 8.1 has a built-in tool that can be initialized using the NETPLWIZ command. Once the appropriate interface opens up, you can configure the user account of your choice to automatically sign-in on the Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer. If the computer has multiple user accounts, the configured user account will still sign-in automatically. If other users want to use the system, the default configured user account must either log off or use the fast user switching feature to allow others users to use the computer.

In order to configure the default user account to automatically log on to Windows 8/Windows 8.1 computer, you should use the administrator account in order to avoid any misconfigurations or denied access messages.

Here is how you can set any user account of your choice on Windows 8/Windows 8.1 to log on to the computer automatically when the system starts:

■Log on to Windows 8/Windows 8.1 using the administrator account.
■Press Windows + R keys simultaneously to open the Run command box.
■In the available field, type NETPLWIZ and click OK.
