I've narrowed down my search to two well priced power supplies. I will be upgrading my system as of next month, but for now the specs follow...
my system specs on my PC now are as follows.....
-Intel Pentium D805 (Upgrading to a E6600 Core 2 Duo next month)
-AsRock DualVSTA-775 mobo (Upgrading to Asus P5B next month)
-Seagate 80gb ATA HD (Upgrading to 320gb SATA next month)
-EVGA 256mb GDDR3 7800gt OC_PCI-Express
-Corsair 1gb DDR2-667mhz dual channel ram

and the 2 power supplies I've narrowed down are these...
Antec TruePower 550watt
and this one ThermalTake TR 550watt

now the one difference I notice between the two is that the Antec is newer and has the newest ATX12V v2.2 standards... and it also has triple 12v rails that have a total output of 504watts which is good I guess :?:

the ThermalTake has the v2.0 standard and its a little older, and it only has dual 12v rail output compared to three from Antec... and I couldnt find specific info from their website about what the max output of those 12v rails was....
so if anyone knows this a bit better than me.... then please advise me on which one you would pick and why...
and yea I know the thermaltake looks a loooot nicer than the Antec.. but I really dont care, cuz theyre both gonna be stuck inside my case, and I keep my case under my desk..
thanks for any input or advice ...

The true power 2.0 has 'only' two rails, the antec trio has 3 of them.

I suggets the Antec TPII, because it has 19Amps on both rail vs 14 and 16 for the thermaltake.

12V rails are important, specially for video card ans such.

Thats said, both will be plenty for your need!

I second the Antec. Either is a great product and won't let you down, but since they are so close in price, the Antec seems the better choice with the 19A 12v rails. Better to buy bigger now and not have to upgrade later.

Again, both are high quality and you should be satisfied either way! Nice choices!

For about $15-$20 more, you can get a 5 year warranty vs 3 year on the TT.

I won't bombard you with my opinion but here is a great review:

Also, if you look here, the efficiency (70%) and ripple (as much as 100mv) is pretty bad, especially compared to the HX520 or the Antec.

And so far, the Trio line is looking pretty bad:

jonnyGURU.com had two TRIOs blow-up during load testing. He waited several weeks for the RMAed
unit and it could not hold it's mudd under load either.

Granted, it was a 650w and not a 550w. Shop with care.
