Can't delete windows.old folder?

I ran the disk cleanup to delete my previous windows installations and it won't let me get rid of the empty windows.old folder.

When I try to delete it or move to recycle bin manually it says "the file does not exist" when clearly, it does exist.

What do?

Try using a third party file eraser program to delete it. The file could be protected with admin permissions, try to take ownership of it then delete using right click not dragging to the recycle bin.

Right click the drive in My Computer and choose properties. Then click the Disk Cleanup button. Removing the old Windows files is one of the things disk cleanup can do for you.

Try downloading ''unlocker'' that might do it if not just go into safe mode and login as admin
