5G home internet can be a practical alternative to traditional broadband, especially if you live in an area with unreliable service. One such option is Mint Mobile’s MINTernet, which is currently among the more affordable 5G home internet plans available. Introduced last year, the base plan starts at $40 a month, which drops down to $30 a month, provided you already have or opt for a new Mint Mobile phone plan.

Mint Mobile is a subsidiary of T-Mobile, which means their 5G home internet service depends on the latter’s 5G network. As per the company, customers can expect download speeds ranging between 133 Mbps and 415 Mbps, upload speeds of up to 55 Mbps, and a latency of 16ms to 28ms. This makes it relatively competitive with entry-level cable broadband internet plans in select regions.

Mint Mobile is offering its MINTernet 5G home internet service with plans starting as low as $30 (with a phone plan). Customers can choose between 3, 6, or 12-month plans depending on their requirements.

Notably, the $40 plan is part of a 3-month introductory offer where customers need to pay the full $120 upfront. As mentioned, if you already have a Mint Mobile phone plan or sign up for one, the cost drops to $30 per month or $90 upfront for three months. Additionally, there is a 6-month plan which costs $45 a month ($270 upfront), or $35 a month ($210 upfront) with a bundled phone plan. There’s even the option of an annual plan at $40 a month ($480 upfront), or $30 a month ($360 upfront) with a qualifying phone plan. The company is also offering an annual bundle offer at $45 a month ($540 upfront), which includes MINTernet 5G home internet and an unlimited phone plan for 12 months.

Mint Mobile advertises these plans with unlimited data; however, there is a fair usage policy in place. Speeds may be reduced after 1TB of usage in a billing cycle, which may or may not impact users with heavy internet usage or households with high bandwidth demands. Each plan comes with a free plug-and-play 5G gateway (modem/Wi-Fi router), meaning that customers don’t need to spend extra unless they want better coverage around their house. Mint is also offering a 14-day money-back guarantee, giving users a window to test the service.

For those who have strong T-Mobile 5G coverage in their area, Mint’s MINTernet plans, effectively starting at $30 is worth considering, especially if you are looking for an alternative to traditional broadband.
