It’s not often we find deals on video cards, but Walmart has a whopper for any gamer who needs a boost. Get your hands on the MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16G Shadow 2X OC Plus for only $569.99. While this card certainly isn’t at its lowest price ever, it is the lowest-priced RTX 5060 Ti 16GB we could find on Amazon ($759.99), Newegg ($799.99 - also an MSI Shadow), or Best Buy (also a $779.99 MSI Shadow), and by an incredible $200. As you may have noticed, the median price for an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB in early August was just over $800, a 39% jump from June, when you could find it for $570 at Walmart right now.

The Shadow 2X OC Plus version sports an all-black, performance-focused design with two large fans to keep the card running cool during long gaming sessions. The shadowy appearance is sure to blend in with a black-themed build (sorry, no integrated RGBs). It’s one of the smaller 5060 Ti’s out there (8.8 x 4.9 x 1.6-inches - a 1.5-slot card) compared to the triple-fan options, which means it can fit inside many small form-factor chassis for a small but still powerful system.

The card uses a full-length PCIe slot (runs at x8 speeds) and is powered by a single 6+2 PCIe connector—plenty for its 180W power envelope. Video outputs consist of three DisplayPort (v2.1b) and one HDMI (v.2.1b) ports - standard fare. Base core clocks start at 2,407 MHz and boost to at least 2,646 MHz, while the ample 16GB of GDDR7 RAM runs at 28 Gbps across a 128-bit bus. The 5060 Ti 16GB is a decidedly mid-range part that plays well at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, offering an average of over 105 frames per second across 11 rasterized games at 1080p and 73 frames per second at the more intensive 1440p, which is plenty for today’s games (don’t forget about DLSS and MFG!). That said, we are aware that the AMD Radeon 9070 GRE exists, and if you can find it for less, it's faster all around, even with ray tracing. Choose your poison, as each has its positives and negatives.

You know we’re not in a good market when $570 for an MSI RTX 5060 Ti 16G Shadow 2x OC Plus is a great deal, but here we are, and this is a great deal considering it’s the lowest-priced RTX 5060 Ti and by an incredible $200 (~25% off).

Over the past several months, combo deals, especially those at Newegg, have been one of the only ways to upgrade your system during the RAMpocalypse. The number of combo deals seems to be declining recently, making it a little harder to get a ‘deal’ on the latest hardware. That doesn’t mean you’re out of luck. If you’re in the market to upgrade your RAM or start building a new system, Newegg has a 32GB TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan Eco DDR5-6400 CL38 kit for only $405 with promo code LDSF243. The price tag makes this kit the least expensive DDR5-6400 kit available, even cheaper than most DDR-6000 kits at the ‘egg, too.

The T-Force Vulcan Eco kit uses a cool-looking silver heatspreader that blends in seamlessly with white/light colorways and offers a nice point of contrast for anyone building in the familiar black. For those looking for some RGB bling, you’ll have to rely on your chassis or case fans, as the Vulcan Eco kit is plain jane. The Eco in the name comes from the recycled materials used to fabricate around 80% of the aluminum heat spreader, promoting environmental sustainability and responsibility while curbing carbon emissions.

We reviewed the DDR5-6000 CL30 kit and loved its tight timings, excellent performance on Intel platforms, and, of course, the recycled aluminum heat spreader. We didn’t review this exact kit, but the charts below give you a general idea of performance. No matter if you plan to use these in an Intel build or in an AMD system, it’s not going to hold you back. If you’re into overclocking, there’s a bit of headroom left in the SK Hynix A-die IC’s they use to improve performance even more if you choose.

While $405 using promo code LDSF243 for a 32GB RAM kit still makes the world cringe, considering we could all get 64GB just over half that price in mid-2025, it’s one of the best deals out there. In fact, it’s one of the least expensive options with reasonable timings and speeds, so you won’t have to choose between a good price and good performance. If you’re in the market to upgrade your RAM or start a DDR5-based PC build, you don’t want to pass this Newegg deal up.

Newegg is constantly updating its RAM combo deals. Sometimes the deals are good, but that's not always the case. This four-item combo (including the free AIO cooler) is one of the better ones lately, offering the wicked-fast Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming CPU, along with 32GB of Corsair DDR5-6000 RAM and a quality mid-range motherboard, the Gigabyte X870E Aorus Pro, for only $1,113.99. That's a savings of $240. If you apply the discount to the RAM, it’s only $260, and what many would consider to be reasonable for the RAMpocalypse we're in the midst of.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is one of the most popular and fastest current-generation CPUs for gaming. This 8-core/16-thread Zen5-based processor has a base clock of 4.6 GHz and a max boost of 5.2 GHz, which is plenty of speed for any task. The X3D variant's 96MB of L3 cache helps with gaming (primarily), making it one of the fastest gaming CPUs available. It is also a well-rounded performer and is a good match for most applications. This combo also includes a free Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240 AIO (an $80 value), which easily handles this processor's thermal output.

Gigabyte’s X870E Aorus Pro is a good-looking, well-rounded motherboard that pairs well with the 9800X3D and Corsair RAM. The board has everything you need, including fast networking with 2.5 GbE and Wi-Fi 7, ample storage options with four M.2 sockets (one PCIe 5.0), and four SATA ports, capable 80A SPS VRMs to power the processor (even for overclocking), and a quality audio solution. It’s also DIY-friendly, offering several “EZ” features such as M.2 and PCIe EZ Latch, Wifi EZ-Plus, and the EZ-Debug zone.

If you’re looking to build a capable rig and missed previous sales, this is one of the better AM5-based combo deals we’ve seen on Newegg recently. For just $1,113.99 (a $240 savings), you get a combination of quality components. Newegg and AMD sweeten the deal by including two free items: a Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240 AIO cooler ($79.99 value) and a free copy of Onimusha: Way of the Sword ($69.99 value).

The portability of a laptop is nice, but it’s not without drawbacks. I often find myself wanting more from their generally tiny screens and more connectivity than my laptop offers, especially for heavy multitasking. Even writing a simple deals post like this requires multiple windows to be open, and my 14-inch 2560x1440 work laptop doesn't offer enough screen real estate to work efficiently. An extra monitor or two is great for viewing multiple things (for me, browser tabs) at once without using ‘Alt+Tab’ to move around between active applications on your desktop. This $99.99 docking station costs only $24.29 with Woot using promo code WOOTDOCK ($29.99 without); it’s a whopping $77 (76%) off and is the best deal you’ll find on a name-brand 7-in-1 docking station this side of a Prime Day.

Starting with video output, this tiny little device offers a single HDMI 2.0 output good for 4K60Hz, along with a DisplayPort 1.4 port for up to 8K30Hz output. In other words, you can run two 4K60Hz monitors or a single 8K30Hz display, either dramatically increasing your screen real estate from a single, generally small, native laptop monitor. In addition to video output, it supports up to 60W USB-C PD, so you can also quickly charge your host device when connected to an external charger.

Newegg has come out with a new high-end AM5 bundle that pairs the venerable Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor, 32GB (2x16GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 RAM, and a premium motherboard in MSI’s MPG X870E Carbon Wifi for only $1,345.99. You save $260 (16%), which, when you apply that beefy combo discount to the 32GB of RAM, makes it only $230, which is a solid deal for these expensive times.

The RAM portion of the bundle, Corsair’s Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 RAM kit, is currently available on Newegg for a wallet-emptying $489.99 when bought separately. The good news is that the massive discount brings this RAM down to $230. This black kit matches the MSI X870E Carbon board and features a frosted RGB light bar that runs the length of the sticks. If RGB lighting isn’t your thing and you prefer a stealthy, unassuming look, you can turn it off. The DDR5-6000 speed lands in the sweet spot for the AM5 platform and is a worthwhile, good-looking option. The SK Hynix ICs under the heatsink pair nicely with the MSI board and offer plenty of overclocking headroom.

Next is the Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor. Before the X3D2 came out, this was the flagship X3D SKU and offered not only a lot of cores and threads (16c/32t) but also X3D cache (128MB) on one of the CCDs, which is great for gaming. Clock speeds start at 4.3 GHz, with turbo boosting a couple of cores up to 5.7 GHz. Between the clock speeds, core count, and extra cache, this processor is not only a great gaming CPU, but also awesome for any type of PC work that needs a lot of cores and threads, like video editing, 3D rendering, and even running VMs.

Last but certainly not least is the MSI X870E Carbon Wifi motherboard (one we reviewed in the past. We loved the robust power delivery (perfect for the 9950X3D), the dual Ethernet ports, EZ features, storage options (4x SATA, 4x M.2 sockets - one PCie 5.0) and ample connectivity on the rear I/O, including four USB Type-C ports (2x 40 Gbps). The all-black motherboard sports a cool RGB design element of the MSI dragon on the VRM heatsink to break up the monotony and offers some bling to the inside of your chassis.

In the end, we like this combo as it takes some of the pain out of buying a PC today. We dug up another solid gaming combo from Newegg for the week; this one features an excellent gaming CPU in the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, a quality mid-range Asus B650 motherboard, and a single stick of G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo DDR5-6000 RAM. Newegg also throws in a free Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240 AIO to sweeten the deal. Priced at only $568.99 ($200 savings/26% off), it’s an inexpensive way into the highly upgradeable AM5 platform.

For the RAM, this combo offers a single stick of G.Skill’s Ripjaws M5 Neo RGB DDR5-6000 CL36. And while on the surface you may think single-channel RAM isn’t ideal (it isn’t), you’d be surprised to see just how little it loses with AMD X3D chips like the one in this combo. Our recent testing puts a single-DIMM configuration only 3% behind dual channel in gaming with a Ryzen 9 9800X3D, and beats out DDR4 dual channel configurations in single channel (see charts below). If we apply the ~$200 discount to the RAM, that means you get a single 16GB stick for only $70. If you know 16GB isn’t enough for your needs, that same stick is currently running a promo (code NGZF248) for an additional $20 off. If you do the math, that’s ~$320 for 32GB of dual-channel G.Skill goodness, and one of the best deals going by today's standards.

Last in this combo is the Asus TUF Gaming B650E-E Wifi. This budget AM5 motherboard has plenty of features and pairs well with the 7700X3D in the combo, even offering drop-in support for the 9000-series and future AM5-based processors should you decide to upgrade. The board has capable power delivery, three M.2 sockets (one PCIe 5.0) and four SATA ports, integrated Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5 GbE networking and is a good base for your AM5 PC.

With many individual component prices still through the roof, combo deals like this are one of the best ways to get the most out of your budget. For under $569, you get one of the fastest gaming processors available, a capable Asus B650 ATX motherboard, 16GB of RAM, and a free 240mm AIO on top of it. In other words, a great way to jump into the AM5 platform without breaking the bank.

With the RAMpocalypse in full swing and little relief in sight, we need to look at combo deals to take some of the sting out of these ridiculous prices. Starting on the budget end, the Creative Pebble V2 speakers are just $26 for Prime Day. We've looked at the higher-powered Pebble Pro set, which also features some modern trimmings like Bluetooth at a much higher price of $60. The Pebble V2 speakers feature an older driver, but they're the same size.

Sound quality isn't the best, but it's far better than what you get out of monitor speakers, which is the most you can ask for out of a $26 pair of speakers.

Stepping up in price and quality, we have the Edifier G2000 speakers, which currently rank as our best 2.0 speaker set for gaming. You get just the two satellite speakers, but they include a connection for a subwoofer to fill out the low-end down the line.

The speakers are mainly tuned for gaming, emphasizing the lows and deprioritizing the mids, so they aren't the best for listening to music. Still, Edifier offers a lot to like with the G2000, especially below $100, including 3.5mm and Bluetooth connections, along with a generous 32W peak power rating.

Edifier's M60 speakers turn everything up compared to the G2000, sporting a larger 3-inch driver along with a 1-inch tweeter to round out the high-end. Combined with a higher 66W power rating, the M60s are a more well-rounded set of speakers, with tuning that works better for movies and music.

The speakers also feature 3.5mm and Bluetooth connectivity, along with USB-C. We've linked the white color above, but the black and oak finishes are on sale for Prime Day, as well.

For a slightly higher-end sound all around, you can go with the Onkyo GX-30ARC speakers, which feature larger 4-inch woofers. We gave the speakers high marks in our Onkyo GX-30ARC review on the back of excellent sound quality for the price, not to mention plentiful connection options.

In addition to USB-C, Bluetooth, and 3.5mm analog connections, the speakers support optical, RCA, and even HDMI connection with ARC. Onkyo includes some plastic stands in the box, as well, angling the speakers up toward your ears for the most direct sound.

The edifier M60s are a clone of the Audioengine A2+ speakers. If you want the real thing, you're in luck because the white color is on sale for $223, while the red version is down to just $209.

Audioengine comes out ahead with more premium build quality, including real wood cabinets and a 24-bit DAC (digital-to-analog converter) built into the speakers. You get plenty of connection options, as well, including Bluetooth, RCA, 3.5mm, and USB-C, along with a subwoofer expansion port.

If you want to go all-out, you can save on the SteelSeries Area 9 surround kit. The set currently ranks as our best 5.1 surround speakers, combining a center channel with four satellite speakers and a 6.5-inch down-firing subwoofer. The subwoofer helps fill out the sound a lot, especially compared to the cheaper options above.

This is a true surround sound system, so it naturally pairs best with true surround sound sources. A lot of games only feature stereo sound, but thankfully, the Arena 9s can convert stereo audio into faux surround sound.

There are exactly two things every PC has in common: it needs power and it needs to be cooled. Modern-day desktops mostly scale linearly in cost, with higher-end builds typically opting for liquid cooling over conventional air cooling. As such, today, we've rounded up some of the best AIOs we could find as part of Amazon's Prime Day Deals, along with a nice little cameo of tradition at the end. First up, we have the Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240, a 240mm AIO liquid cooler that comes with two 120mm RGB fans and a similarly RGB-illuminated pump block featuring aa frosted hexagonal design. The supplied Dual Elite 120mm fans can spin between 600 and 2,100 RPM, are designed to remain quiet during operation.

The Elite Liquid 240 supports all the major Intel and AMD sockets currently available. Cooler Master usually sells this for around $60, but you can have it for 33% off today for the white version.

If you're tired of all the RGB bling and just need an AIO that works exceptionally well, look no further than the Arctic Liquid Freezer Pro 360. While you don't get even RGB LED, the performance when we reviewed this cost-effective beast was the strongest AIO we've tested, "bar none." It also had chart-topping noise-normalized performance and a long six year warranty.

Maybe you need a deal on a black 240mm AIO. Corsair's iCue Link Titan 240 RX RGB AIO now has a massive price drop and is now found under $80. While it doesn't have a screen, the 2 120mm RGB fans and pump block have enough bling to keep you happy.

The AIO supports a wide range of processors including AMD AM4/5, and Intel's, 115x/1200/1700/1851. The included RX RGB fans run from 0-2,100 RPMs and eliminates noise entirely at low temperatures.

If you're into these large screens and like the look of the new curved versions, the Tryx Panorama SE 360 ARGB is a solid contender, but it's pricey. Normally $279.99, it's on sale at Newegg for $251.99 and it's lowest price since April 2026.

The 2K 6.67-inch rotatable AMOLED screen is the star of the show with high res, 400 nit brightness screens. It comes with pre-loaded animations or you can use your own. According to our review, it performed well with low noise levels and good noise-normalized performance so you don't need to worry about noise, or keeping your processor cool.

Before you leave, there's one more thing. If you want the solid cooling while spending as little as possible, then you can't go wrong with PCCooler RT720 TC ARGB. Unlike the options we've discussed so far, this is an air cooler that eliminates many of the complexities of AIO and replaces them with affordable, reliable cooling.

This dual-tower cooler is said to support up to 265W and comes with two 120mm hydraulic-bearing fans (500-2000 RPM) with 3.28mm-H20 for a nice balance of cooling and quiet operations.

Every cooler on this list is a great choice, offering solid performance at affordable prices that are not often found. Our top pick is the Thermalright Grand Vision because it offers a screen at a price where such novelty is unheard of. However, the options from Cooler Master, MSI, Corsair, and our cameo from Thermaltake will all tame your beastly processors just fine. Make sure to do your research, look at reviews, and don't hesitate to splurge if this is an upgrade you've been holding out on for a long time.

Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 Ti recently earned our pick as the best all-around enthusiast graphics card for gaming in 2026 thanks to its strong baseline performance for both raster and RT gaming at 1440p and 4K.

The one catch is that the price for that all-round excellence has been quite high of late. We found that you can expect to pay $1099 or so at the midpoint of RTX 5070 Ti prices during our recent research for our guide to the best graphics cards in 2026, as well as our work for the 2026 GPU Benchmarks Hierarchy.

But as Amazon Prime Day rolls around, both Best Buy and Newegg are making Asus' Prime RTX 5070 Ti available for just $900 — the cheapest we've seen one of these cards go for in a long time.

We use the OC Edition of this Asus card for our own testing in the Tom's Hardware labs, and its clean design, quiet triple-fan cooler, and full-length metal backplate all make for a fine example of the 5070 Ti. The base Prime 5070 Ti on sale here sacrifices only 45 MHz of stock clocks to the OC Edition—a difference you'll never notice in games.

But you'll definitely feel the extra $50 to $100 in your pocket compared to the next-cheapest 5070 Tis out there, and this Asus Prime card offers an all-around nicer build than most board partners' most attainable product lines.

The Cyborg 15 is the definite value play wth its $1,089 asking price (a $510 discount). That price gets you an Intel Core 7-240H processor, 16GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1TB SSD. You need to start somewhere, and these kits have pretty much every tool that you could need to maintain a PC, all in a handy case. In my office/workshop, I have a general set of screwdrivers for general tasks, and a set of Hoto screwdrivers and bits for servicing my PC and any other parts I review.

Whether you call them Hex or Allen wrenches, this part of our toolbox is often overlooked. Why? Because we get one in every set of flat-pack, DIY furniture that's why! You can get cheap sets of Hex wrenches, but they are ultimately made from a material softer than Play-Doh, or have the power to strip a head. Air dusters and cleaners

Clean the filth from your PC!

Air blowers/dusters are a popular choice for quickly blowing out fans and filters to remove any collected dust and fluff. They can also blow out the crumbs that linger under your keyboard. Air blowers are a great alternative to single-use compressed air cans.

Not everyone wants to buy an $80 air duster. There are plenty that cost less that still move a lot of air and come with several attachments that are plenty useful for cleaning out your PC.

I clean out my desktop PC once or twice a year and my blower did a great job, but there were times when the amassed collection of dead skin cells, dog and cat hair, and other fluff was too much for my much weaker air duster. So I bought some cans of compressed air, and not the dollar store stuff either! I don't use them often, but they are handy when you need a little more power in a precise point.

Sometimes compressed air or turbo-force USB-powered jet fans aren't enough, and so you must get your hands dirty. Cleaning any electronic components should be done with care. Components aren't as static sensitive as their predecessors but we should take care not to trash our kit.

These nylon anti-static brushes come in a range of sizes and shapes to clean dust from components and inside drive bays, and to keep caked-on dust from your fan blades. It also includes a keycap puller and tweezers to deep clean the harrowing scene that lurks under your keyboard.

The final cleaning product that you need for building and maintaining PCs is Isopropyl Alcohol, IPA. Yes, 99% is overkill; heck, it's medical grade for first aid use, but if you really want to eke it out, get some distilled water and water down your mix to 70%. I don’t because it works well as it is.

My top tip, though, is not to spray it when the components are hot. There is very little risk of fire, but it will evaporate rather quickly. That said, in the electronics hobbyist world, rapidly evaporating IPA is used to identify super-hot chips, typically those that have shorted.

Thermal pastes

Thermal paste etiquette — pea-sized blob, an X, or a smooth layer like peanut butter?

Let's all agree that, however you apply thermal paste, that is the right way, ok? Thermal paste / TIM or thermal pads bridge the hot side of a component to a heatsink or heatpipe, which wicks away heat, keeping the component cool.

Thermal material is essential to keep your system cool, and I asked the team what they use. Our Editor-in-Chief, Paul Alcorn, said that MX-6 is his go-to thermal paste. So I looked around and found this handy kit that contains 4G of thermal paste and six handy wipes. The wipes are essentially isopropyl alcohol on a cloth, and they are used to prepare the surface for the new paste. They will wipe off the old paste, dust, dead skin (ewww) and leave the surface ready for pasting!

Thanks to ongoing AI-driven demand, trying to find any kind of storage, be it SSD or HDD, on sale at a reasonable price is next to impossible, even during deals events like Amazon’s Prime Day. But if you’ve been a PC builder or even a laptop user for several years, there’s a good chance you have a drive of some kind sitting in a drawer or the back of a closet, doing nothing more useful than collecting dust.

Whether it’s a SATA SSD, an NVMe or SATA M.2 drive that you swapped out for a faster or higher-capacity option in the before times, or even an old-school hard drive, you can drop it into an affordable USB enclosure, plug it into one of your ports, and perhaps save yourself hundreds over what you’d have to pay for a new drive at today’s awful storage prices.

But we’ll include some on-sale options below, as well as enclosures for older drive types, since these hard times for storage might have you reaching back to some truly old drives that can still be useful. Of course, for those who crave fast throughput and have a fast drive to drop in, we’ll also include a 40Gbps option.

A solid, see-through enclosure for 2.5-inch SATA SSDs or hard drives

There are cheaper 2.5-inch SATA SSD / HDD options, but this option from Orico uses a modern USB-C cable, rather than the more common (for some reason) Micro USB-B connection. This is important, both because Micro-B is rare these days, so you might misplace the cable.

But also, should you want to use a USB-C connector on your PC, rather than the USB-A cable that this enclosure ships with, you probably already have a suitable USB-C to USB-C cable. With other enclosures, you'd almost certainly have to order a Micro-B to USB-C cable. And no one wants one of those if they can avoid it.

A sub-$15 10 Gbps NVMe and SATA M.2 enclosure

Unless you're digging some SATA drives out of storage, the most likely (and speediest) option for putting an old drive to use as external storage is an M.2 drive. Older models might be SATA, but newer, faster options use the NVMe protocol. The tool-free option below supports both, as well as all the common physical M.2 form factors.

This enclosure supports speeds up to 10Gbps, which is fine for most mainstream uses. And it's unlikely most have a faster spare PCIe 4 or PCIe 5 drive to take full advantage of faster interfaces anyway. If you do, keep scrolling for a faster option, below.

Breaking out the big guns with a 3.5-inch external hard drive enclosure

If you’ve got a spacious 3.5-inch hard drive you want to make use of and don’t have the space for it inside your PC case, there are, of course, enclosures available for old-school desktop hard drives. And our favorite tested pick, from UGreen, is also on sale.

Despite its svelte size for the category, there's no denying the bulkiness here compared to 2.5-inch enclosures, not to mention the requirement of a power brick. But hey, it supports drives up to 20TB, and you can’t cram all those bits in a 2.5-inch drive.

The only real benefit of 3.5-inch external storage at this point is capacity and price. 2.5-inch hard drives top at 5-6TB, and 8TB SSDs these days usually cost $900 or more. But this enclosure from Ugreen supports up to 20TB drives. Just remember: backing up terabytes of essential data to a single hard drive, without another off-site backup, is a good way to ensure a future catastrophe. Always follow the 3-2-1 backup rule if your data is irreplaceable.

Affordable 40 Gbps external speed, if you need it

If you’re digging in a drawer for an older drive, there’s a fairly good chance it’s not up to delivering 40 Gbps speeds, so there’s no use in overpaying for a pricier enclosure with speeds your drive can’t deliver. But for those who do have a spare SSD that’s capable of speeds of 3,100 MB/s or more and want a fast enclosure, this model from Orico, if you clip the coupon, is one of the cheapest we’ve seen from a known brand.

This is a fanless enclosure, and not as large as some other passively cooled options. So don't expect the fastest possible sustained performance, but Orico's enclosure supports speeds up to 3100 MB/s, as well as USB4, Thunderbolt, and older / slower USB protocols.

If you're a gamer, the best CPU you can buy is going to come from AMD right now, and the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is going to be on your shortlist. While it isn't technically the most powerful chip on the market anymore, the 9800X3D is still an absolute powerhouse performer and our top pick for best gaming CPU in 2026, and it's just hit its lowest ever price in the UK on Amazon, costing just £339.99.

The data from Camelcamelcamel confirms what we know about Amazon's price, and an early check across the other big tech retailers in the UK points to a minimum £30 price drop compared to the cost elsewhere. There are few CPUs that offer the reputation that the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Until very recently, it was the fastest CPU for gaming in the world, and it's still our best pick overall. This 8-core, 16-thread processor features AMD's newest Zen 5 architecture and comes equipped with a boost clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz.

The performance upgrade, however, is really noticeable in one area: the cache. These 3D V-cache chips feature a boosted 96MB L3 cache capacity, stacked beneath the CPU cores, closer to the integrated heat spreader on a reconfigured die. For gaming, that means that it doesn't need to drop down and rely on the slower system RAM, reducing latency and ensuring much higher frame rates in-game.

The 9800X3D comes fully unlocked, making overclocking a possibility, something which wasn't available on earlier 3D V-cache chips. That said, base performance is pretty stellar on its own, and there really isn't a more efficient gaming CPU on the market at this level.

You aren't having to juice for power here. It offers the best performance per watt of any gaming CPU on sale, besting newer upgrades like the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D. Our CPU benchmark data confirms that, showing that the FPS difference between the earlier AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D and newer Ryzen 7 9850X3D sits at only 3% at 1080p. You're probably running your games at 1440p or 4K with a chip like this one, too, which will close the gap even further.

Pair the 9800X3D with a modern GPU, and you won't find too many bottlenecks from the CPU end. If you combine it with a top-class option like the RTX 5080 or RTX 5090, however, and it'll smash through anything. High frame rates, high resolutions, even in CPU-heavy games like Cyberpunk 2077. The 96MB of L3 cache will give you the performance upgrade you need to perform at any level.

Another bonus for the 9800X3D is its lifespan. This is a long-term CPU, with performance that sits near the top, and which is very much expected to continue to dominate gaming for years into the future. This is an AMD AM5 processor, too, and that's a platform that AMD has publicly committed to support for several years to come.

The £339.99 sale price for the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D makes it a must-buy if you're due for a CPU upgrade or you're planning a new build. While RAM and SSD prices have shot through the roof in recent months, this 9800X3D deal is an unmissable discount ahead of the Prime Day sales event, and one you'll want to grab quickly before the stock or discount runs dry.

These two CPUs provide an interesting return to form for Intel, at least partially, compared to the disappointing response (and launch-day performance) of its earlier Intel Core Ultra line-up. As our 250K Plus review shows, this is a CPU that punches well above its weight, with performance that beats CPUs that are double the price in applications.

Meanwhile, the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is a formidable option for productivity users, even if gaming isn't quite its focus. Our 270K Plus review reveals the extent of the turnaround from Arrow Lake here, priced $100 less than the Core Ultra 7 265K, with chart-topping single and multi-threaded performance.

These Arrow Lake Refresh processors are competitively priced with better performance than many would expect. While the LGA 1851 socket is nearing the end of its life, these CPUs would be a serious upgrade for your existing build.

Where to buy Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus

The Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus is a budget-friendly processor with an MSRP of $200. It has the same gaming performance as the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, but for multi-threaded productivity tasks, it outperforms plenty of more expensive rivals, including the gaming-focused 9800X3D. It features 18 cores, comprising six performance cores and 12 efficient cores, and 18 threads. P-cores can boost up to 5.3 GHz, while E-cores can boost to 4.6 GHz, and the chip has a base TDP of 125W.

This CPU has just launched, so expect to see stock levels (and prices) vary across the board. We'll be updating this guide regularly with the most up-to-date prices and links from all the major retailers, with the K (overclockable) and KF (overclockable, no iGPU) models on sale.

Where to buy Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus

The Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is a $299 powerhouse with a Janus exterior: a CPU with two faces. For less than $300, you're getting flagship productivity performance at mainstream-level pricing, going toe-to-toe with the Ryzen 9 9950X at half its price. Gaming performance is less stellar, sitting closer to the Core i7-14700K and Ryzen 7 9700X. The 270K Plus is a 24-core CPU, with eight performance cores and 16 efficient cores, with a max boost clock speed of 5.5 GHz and a base TDP of 125W.

The price makes this CPU a truly compelling option, however. Retailers have priced it above MSRP for the time being, but it's still early days, and we'll be looking to update this table with the latest stock (and prices) as it launches.

Gaming and Productivity Performance Benchmark Charts

The benchmark data above speaks for itself. Intel has knocked it out of the park with its Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs, with pricing and performance that, depending on your use case, makes them truly compelling.

This is in part due to the top-notch productivity performance and the much lower price point ($319.99 at Newegg, the 285K launched at nearly $600) alone. Gaming is still an afterthought, but the new processor still performs well, just not as well as the X3D chips at lower resolutions.

The new Core Ultra 270K Plus CPU boasts 24 cores/24 threads with an 8+16 (Performance and ecores) configuration. The performance cores have a base clock of 3.7 GHz and a boost of 5.4 GHz. The ecores did receive a clockspeed increase with their boost up to 4.7 GHz from 4.6 GHz. L3 Cache still sits at 76MB, as does the TDP of 125/250W. Memory support was raised from a maximum (not overclocked) of 7200 MT/s, up from 6400 MT/s on the original Arrow Lake chips. In all, it’s an improved chip, but the lower price point is where the real value is found.

Next up is the MSI MPG Z890 Carbon Wifi motherboard. I reviewed this mid-range offering previously and loved the updated ‘Click X’ BIOS, DIY features, and the premium all-black aesthetic. The board supports Core Ultra Plus processors with the latest BIOS and includes a BIOS Flashback function, allowing updates without a processor, ensuring compatibility. You get five M.2 sockets (one PCIe 5.0 x4) and four SATA ports for storage, 5 GbE and Wi-Fi 7, loads of USB ports on the rear IO (13 total, 3x Type-C two of those 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 4) and some AI functionality (Overclocking, LAN, and Cooling) to help you get the most out of the system. The all-black appearance with RGBs on the heatsinks makes for an awesome centerpiece in a dark-themed build and a perfect complement to the 270K Plus in the combo.

Finally, Newegg includes 32GB of GSkill Trident Z5 RGB series DDR5-6400 CL32 RAM to round out the combo. The black sticks sport a frosted RGB strip on top for some bling and match the Carbon Wifi motherboard. While the speed isn’t the fastest for the platform, you’ll still get incredible performance with this kit. And the fact that with the $289.99 discount, this RAM is actually priced like it was in mid-2025.

Newegg has multiple Intel bundles out today in conjunction with the release of the Arrow Lake refresh chips, with varying levels of motherboards and discounts that are all worth a look, but this one at $899.99 has the highest discount among them. If 1080p gaming isn’t how you primarily use your PC, Intel’s updated CPUs are certainly a worthwhile purchase, especially with an almost $300 savings.

Although we didn’t review AMD’s Ryzen 9 9900X, we know the non-X3D chips, like its big brother, the Ryzen 9 9950X, built on the same technology, were generally well received by our reviewer and the public alike. Its strong multicore and single-threaded performance, native AVX-512 support, and backward compatibility with AM5 motherboards make this CPU an excellent choice for someone who uses their PC for more than just gaming and can make use of the additional cores and threads.

The Ryzen 9 9900X is a 12-core, 24-thread processor built on TSMC’s 4nm FinFET process (6nm for the I/O die) with a base clock of 4.4 GHz and boost up to 5.6 GHz. It has a TDP of 120W and is relatively easy to manage the thermals, even when overclocking the fully unlocked processor. While overclocking isn’t what it used to be, you can still squeeze out a couple of hundred more MHz, and sometimes you can get there even when lowering the voltage. In short, there’s a lot of performance out of the box, and even a bit more headroom left if you want to overclock.

Unfortunately, we didn’t review this specific 9000-series CPU, but it is used in our motherboard reviews. Below, you can see it's a high-performing chip across a wide range of PC functions. This includes office productivity, encoding/decoding, rendering, and, of course, gaming. You can see in benchmarks like Cinebench (rendering) the extra cores and threads shine, while in other tests, the single-threaded capability also shows its mettle.

Gaming tests will be slower than those on any of the X3D chips, but it is still plenty capable, reaching well over 140 FPS in both of our game tests at 1080p (where the CPU matters most). So even if you work by day and moonlight as a gamer, the Ryzen 9 9900X still spits out plenty of frames, even for high frequency/Hz gaming.

Another great thing about the AM5 platform is its longevity. Not only does it support existing 7000 and 9000 series processors, but it will also support upcoming processors like the rumored Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 and next-gen AM6 processors. So if this chip gets long in the tooth in a few years, the upcoming, even faster processors, will be drop-in compatible (using the latest BIOS).

With RAM, storage, and graphics card pricing skyrocketing over the past several months due to the AI boom, building a PC has, sadly, never been more expensive. And with no end in sight, scrounging around for deals is the only way to take the burn out of the current pricing. The Radeon RX 9070 XT is a high-performance 1440p/4K gaming GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture and features 16GB of GDDR6 memory, 64 compute units, 64 ray accelerators, a 304W TBP, and up to 2.97GHz boost clock speeds. Launched with an MSRP of $599 in March 2025, the company has since increased the price of its Radeon graphics cards and memory kits sent to AIB partners by $10 per 8GB. This increase has led to a change in the official price to $619.

In our review of the RX 9070 XT, we found that it can easily compete with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and can get relatively close to the RTX 5070 Ti. The GPU delivered about 91fps in our 16-game rasterization geomean at 1440p resolution and 60fps at 4K beating the RTX 5070 by 21% at 1440p, and 29% at 4K.

Initial setup and configuration are a breeze, too, with users able to set their own config using the router’s web portal.

The main trade-off, however, is that this router doesn’t support the full Wi-Fi 7 spec, so you’re missing the 6 GHz band. That said, performance at 2.4 GHz, which is still the dominant Wi-Fi band and one you’ll need to use to connect legacy devices, is excellent with the BE600 at close range. While this has a decent spec sheet for the model we tested in our Acer Nitro V15 review, where we scored its performance and build quality pretty highly, it’s an otherwise identical machine. That includes the screen it holds, with the V15 containing a 15.6-inch LCD display with a fast 165Hz refresh rate. That rate is important because it means that, when you’re maxing out the frame rates in-game at 1080p on this rig, you won’t see any ugly screen tears or stuttering.

Ultimately, though, the power in this rig resides in three of its major components. Starting with the CPU, it comes equipped with an Intel Core i7-13620H. It’s a 10-core Raptor Lake processor that, while it is starting to age a little, is still a reasonable option for gaming on a laptop, with six performance cores able to handle gaming tasks, and four efficient cores for multi-threaded work, with a max boost clock speed of 4.9 GHz.

All in all, though, it’s the RTX 5060 that most gamers will focus on. The mobile version of one of Nvidia’s latest Blackwell GPUs has 3,328 CUDA cores, along with 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM. From a gaming perspective, especially with this CPU, expect to manage high to even ultra graphics presets with high frame rates in most modern games. 1440p is possible in some cases, too, especially using this GPU’s DLSS 4 support. Multi-frame generation will be helpful here, using those AI-generated frames to give you a lift in games that are especially demanding.

16GB of RAM is about standard for a modern gaming laptop these days, but it’s nice that it isn’t an area of compromise at this price point. You’ve also got a 1TB NVMe SSD installed in this rig, ensuring fast Gen 4 speeds and enough capacity for a few big game installations, alongside plenty of Steam indie releases, to sink your teeth into.

Look, we can’t pretend this is a record low price for this drive, but it is a decent one in the current circumstances. Rising NAND flash prices due to AI have completely upended the PC hardware market, with memory and SSDs seeing big price increases. With a senior Samsung executive calling these SSD price increases the ‘new normal,’ we can’t expect to see these prices drop anytime soon, either.

That brings us back to the Crucial P310. As our review back in 2024 explains, this is a good all-rounder, even if the criticism about its price has been superseded by events. Put into context, £299.99 is as cheap as you’ll find a 4TB NVMe SSD with PCIe 4.0 speeds right now, and on the speed front, this drive sits firmly in the middle of the pack.

Our benchmark data below confirms that, too. With sequential read and write speeds of 7,100 MB/s and 6,000 MB/s, the Crucial P310 certainly isn't the fastest Gen 4 SSD you can buy, but it is a big improvement over older Gen 3 drives and SATA SSDs, and even manages to beat even faster drives like the WD Black SN850X in some cases. It also competes well against the fastest PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD on sale right now, the Samsung 990 Pro, which has read and write speeds of 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s apiece.

The big MVP of a drive like this, however, is the capacity. Even with a Windows installation, you’re left with a heap of extra data for big game installations or hefty apps. It would also work well as a separate backup drive for all of your important files, keeping them separated from your main OS drive, thanks to the Crucial P310’s decent speed specs.

Everything we’ve seen and heard over the last few months has suggested that we’re not going to be seeing ultra-low prices on SSDs for a long, long time. £299.99 for a 4TB Crucial P310 SSD, in the current market conditions, is a price worth considering, with decent speeds and a price that outperforms any of its competitors right now. We reviewed the Apple MacBook Neo and were surprised by its premium feel and looks in comparison to the much more expensive MacBooks. The chassis of the Neo is premium, and the 13-inch liquid retina display is bright, with vivid colours. The touchpad is clickable anywhere on the pad, and overall, it's the most affordable MacBook laptop ever made.

Some things we weren't fans of, however, were the lack of backlighting on the keyboard, which made it harder to see keys in a darkened environment, and the lack of functionality labeling on the USB-C ports. The ports are quite different in the physical tasks they could handle. Apple's operating does notify you if you plug something like a small portable monitor into the USB-C port that doesn't support DisplayPort functionality, but it's a bit of a clunky design choice for Apple.

This is an interesting change for Apple and awesome if you're looking for an eBook-style laptop with a premium feel and build quality for a good price. The fact that you can already make a saving before the MacBook is even released is amazing and definitely something you should jump on if this is a product you're interested in. It's not a gaming laptop, and wouldn't be that effective as a high-productivity software machine, but for general internet activity and work/study use, it's a very enticing bit of kit.

One of the best additions to my toolkit has been an electric screwdriver. This Hoto screwdriver, in fact. Hoto's original mini electric precision screwdriver set is one that we've often seen come down in price around Amazon sale events, including just before Christmas. As you can probably tell, it's a personal favourite of mine, but several other editors and writers at Tom's Hardware own and regularly use it, too. With 29% off its £39.99 list price, you're getting a great bargain on a driver that a PC builder, hobbyist, or just a casual DIY-er will love.

The 3.6V driver is equipped with a 1,500mAh battery that reportedly allows you to drive over 1,000 screws from a full charge. From personal experience, having used it almost every weekend since the start of the year, I've not had to charge it once, so longevity hasn't been an issue. It uses a USB-C connection for charging the 1,500 mAh battery, ditching any need for outdated AA batteries, and comes with a supplied cable, with a total charge taking only 150 minutes to complete.

The kit itself is ultralight, too. It weighs just 250g, with a round casing made out of plastic and TPE rubber. It's robust, and I've certainly dropped it a few times to check, but it's also comfortable to pick up, thanks to its rubberised feel. The Hoto NEX O1 Pro itself is fully adjustable for different situations, coming with three separate torque settings, as well as a built-in sensor that will stop driving as soon as you release control. There's also a circular LED light at the top to help you see what you're doing in dark spaces, which I've found particularly useful. It's also fully magnetic, so you won't lose any tiny screws while you work, either.

This is a portable kit with 12 different screw bits, and I've found it covers all of the bases quite well. It has a good selection, with Phillips, Torx, flat, hexagon, and Pozidriv head options, all rated for 60HRC on the Rockwell scale. These all come with the driver in a sturdy aluminium storage box, which helpfully protects the Hoto driver when it isn't being used.

This Hoto NEX O1 Pro electronic screwdriver is, in my opinion, a must-have with a wide appeal, whether you're a 3D printer enthusiast, home DIY-er, PC builder and repairer, hobbyist, or tradesperson.
