Huawei Ascend P6 Now On Sale in the UK

Huawei is keen to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Samsung and Apple in the battle for number one smartphone manufacturer. To do that, the company needs to produce some seriously high-end kit. To that end, we've seen Huawei move away from OEM feature phones and towards monstrous smartphones with impressive spec sheets. The latest, the Ascend P6, has just hit the UK.

Packing a 4.7-inch 720p display, a quad-core 1.5 GHz CPU, 2 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of storage (plus microSD up to 32 GB), the Ascend P6 was announced just a couple of weeks ago, in mid-June. Though Huawei was happy to detail the phone's 5-megapixel camera, Emotion UI, Dual-SIM support, and 2,000 mAh battery, it didn't get too specific in terms of a release date.

Lucky for us, we didn't have to wait long for this phone to hit the market. Crave reports that the device is now on sale in the United Kingdom and is priced at £300 SIM-free from O2. Huawei said in June that the phone would launch in China and the EU initially, with hopes of expanding to the United States afterwards. We'll keep you posted on U.S. availability.

Huawei Technology Company (China) <> HTC (Taiwan).

Waiting to see when the P6 hits US shores. Huawei has been under the radar in the past but they offer good phones for low prices, they are now trying to move up into the top tier of smartphone manufacturers.

Huawei is simply the BEST value for money and innovation in the smartphone market. Galaxy S4 is a meh device compared to this with its astronomical price tag. I mean, the G510 easily buries similar priced competition with its specs yet people call it a mid range phone. It makes Samsung "mid" range phones look like pieces of plastic from a roadside stall.
