Just last week, LoveFilm announced that it was finally available on the classic Wii. The Amazon-owned on-demand services announced the news via its official blog, and this week, the company revealed that it is now available on the Nintendo Wii U. All you need is a Wii, a LoveFilm subscription and an internet connection.
Unlike regular Wii users, Wii U owners don't have to download the LoveFilm app from the Wii Shopping Channel. Instead, the console ships with the app already installed (the service is yet to be activated on the platform before now). Once you have it, you can stream movies and TV shows to your heart's content. According to LoveFilm, the app is designed specifically for the Wii U, and allows for naviation using the Wii U GamePad and the Wii Remote. What's more, you can use the GamePad to browse and watch a film or TV episode, even if someone else is using the TV.
While the original Wii is not an HD console, the Wii U is Nintendo's first high def console. Anyone using the LoveFilm app will be able to enjoy 720p content, but LoveFilm does recommend a connection speed of at least 2Mbps for the best viewing experience for standard definition content or 3Mbps for HD. The application will automatically stream in the best quality possible and will adjust depending on your connection speed.
