Gigabyte GA-7VT600 Ultra: Lower Price Through Cutbacks

Board-Revision 0.2

Bios F1 (06/30/2003)

Economy package: The customer doesn't need fancy packaging in this price class - what's the use?

The fourth-tier GA-7VT600 Ultra was not fully equipped in our case, despite the wiring. The two IDE interfaces and their controllers were not installed, for example. The manufacturer also dispensed with an additional Serial ATA RAID chip and associated ports. Also, there is no Broadcom Gigabit LAN module or ports for a card reader. Nevertheless, the excellent-value board comes with its fair share of equipment. In addition to FireWire, Dual BIOS and high-speed networking capabilities of 100 MB, there are extensive opportunities for overclocking using the BIOS or DIP switches. The switching regulator's design is not so strong as in several other test candidates, however, such as the MSI and Soyo boards, for example.
