Fast and Secure: A Comparison of Eight RAID Controllers

Dawicontrol DC-133 Raid

The Dawicontrol DC-133 is based on the Sil 0680 Ultra-DMA/ 133 chip from Silicon Image. The card achieved good scores, particularly on the application-oriented Business Winstone 2001 benchmark test. Obvious weaknesses highlighted by the Business Disk Winmark 99 cost the product some points.

The manufacturer provides this card with a five-year warranty against faults. Like the DC-100, the DC-133 has support for RAID levels 0, 1, 0+1 and a JBOD configuration in which the drives can be operated individually. A good feature is that one of the two IDE channels can be used externally, enabling arrays of external IDE hard disks to be used.

Thanks to a price, the Dawicontrol DC-133 Raid is a good value, although the DC-100 from the same manufacturer is a better and cheaper alternative.
