Cardo S-800 Bluetooth Headset: Stick It In Your Ear!
By: Sean Kerner
Used to be that when a man on the street walked around talking to himself, you'd think he was nuts. Now you know better (or you should). But these days, people walk around and look like they're talking to themselves all the time, thanks to neat little Bluetooth headsets that have become increasingly pervasive and cheap. Among the best of the best is the Cardo S-800, which is a whole more than just a wireless headset for a cell phone.
Not everybody looks as good as Sarah when wearing this headset, but it does the trick for one and all.
Your average Bluetooth headset pairs with a single cell phone, but the Cardo S-800 can link up to two different phones (what, you only have one phone?!). So let's say you've got an office and a home phone; the S-800 connects with both so you don't need to carry two headsets. Switching between phones isn't terribly complex either - there's a multi-function wheel/switch on the S-800 that handles this change with a double press. That same wheel also makes short work of adjusting the volume, which can sometimes be a bit of a chore on other Bluetooth units.
Of course, the whole point of a Bluetooth headset is to go hands free. This is where the auto answer feature comes into play. Instead of lifting a finger to click a button to accept incoming calls, you can simply set the S-800 to activate automatically whenever the phone rings. For outgoing calls, the S-800 can make your life easier too, with a feature called Hot Dial, which lets you program in three speed dial numbers that you can dialed directly from your headset with the push of a button.
Cardo claims that the S-800 provides up to 8 hours of talk time with standby power for a week, after an average charging time of 2 hours. This should keep people guessing for some time about whether you're on the phone or have lost your mind...
Pricing on the Cardo S-800 varies from $39.99 to $79.99, so be sure to shop around to get the best deal.
