I've been using a MBPr 15" primarily for the past few months and I really like the crisp text and I really love it. I'm planning to set a powerful desktop now and am considering between Dell U2515H 2k display and Dell P2715Q 4k monitor. On the paper, crispness wise, the P2715Q, being a 4k monitor would clearly win. However, I want to know if at normal viewing distances, that would make any difference. I have this question because when I see the text scaling in my MBPr, the normal scaling says "Looks like 1440x900"(See picture)

I assumed that this means that we're not really harnessing the full potential of the retina display for such a small monitor and thus, any monitor would 113 dpi(1440x900 for 15") should look the same. Hence, I am inclined more towards the 2k monitor. Can anyone tell me if the crispness look the same in it like in an MBPr? Thanks in advance.

Solution
Turns out that the "Looks like 1440x900" only affects the text scaling. The sharpness of text depends completely on the pixel density. As with U2515H, it is a pretty good monitor, however, the crispness is not as good as retina, however, is pretty close at normal viewing distances.
