hey guys, here's the deal.

Iv'e installed all the drivers from disk provided by Gigabyte.
There's a red x over my connection status.
I'll go to the device manager and there's nothing with yellow triangles and nothing about networking drivers.
I downloaded the realtek LAN driver from Gigabytes website and try to install that, then i get a message saying "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable."

still nothing's changed. I went to the BIOS and found "Onboard LAN Controller" and Enabled that. but still, no progress.

system:
Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 (REV 4.0)
8 (2 x 4) Gb 1333 mhz RAM
AM3+ FX6300 black edition at stock speed

Any possible solution would be much appreciated!

I'm Relatively new to the Computer scene so any assistance to help me get over this obstacle would be a godsend.

Have you tried to install the driver after you enabled the onboard LAN in the bios?

If not, download a fresh copy and try installing it (also did you install the chipset driver?).

Also try a different cable and connect to a different LAN port on the router.

alright, with LAN enabled in my BIOS i removed the old Realtek driver and installed the newly downloaded one, and still get the same message that came up "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable."

Im downloading the new chipset driver from Gigabytes website right now.

I have plenty of Working Ethernet cables so a dysfunctional cable isn't a suspect.

edit: I was also under the impression that the disk for my mobo drivers, would have the chipset driver on it as well. i wouldnt think the chipset driver would be a problem.

On your machine that will not connect, open an elevated command prompt (right click run as admin) and type ipconfig /all>c:\ipconfig.txt and hit enter. That will save a file on your root c drive that has all the information on your connections. Does an Ethernet adapter show up and what settings?

My concern grows that your Ethernet adapter is defective.

Good call. While the tunnel adapter is meaningless, there is no information on a functioning LAN adapter.
