Hello.

I am having an issue accessing my NAS (FTP Server) from outside of my network. The issue is that I can not setup port forwarding as the router gets an IPv6 address from the internet provider.

This is my FTP server config on the NAS config page:

Router WAN info (do i have only one IPv6 available or more?):

Router Host port window (not quite sure what to put here):

NAS IPv6 setup set to Auto (gets an IP from the router):

NAS has IPv4 and IPv6 now (is this fine?):

Any help on how I can make the NAS FTP Server accessible from outside my network is greatly appreciated.

Thx

Every IPv6 capable device on your network has an IPv6 address, globally addressable. Your ISP hands your router a 'prefix', which is the first part of the address. Your router then grabs one address for itself, and then hands the rest out to devices who ask for them. As such, you need to use the IPv6 address on your NAS, not the router's one. A dynamic DNS service is recommended, as they tend to change fairly frequently.

However, you will need to add rules to the firewall allowing the ports to continue straight through.

Thx for the info.

I've managed to progress a bit. I've assigned the NAS an IPv6 address.

Tried an ONLINE PORT SCANNER IPV6 (http://www.subnetonline.com/pages/ipv6-network-tools/online-ipv6-port-scanner.php):
The checked port (21210, service ) is offline/unreachable!

I added the NAS IP address and port 21210 to the router HostPort table and tried again.

The checked port (21210, service ) is online/reachable! Great.

Tried to FTP to it from local network, all is fine.

Tried to FTP from outside my network, still can't connect.

What could the issue be?

Which NAS do you have? Can't tell by the screenshots.

Hmm, didn't know that it matters.

I have tried from 2 different 'other networks'.
- One is from my mobile phone 3G network using an FTP client (works when phone is connected to WiFI i.e. local network but not when WiFI is disabled and uses 3G i.e. other network).
- I have also tried from my office network at work and still doesn't connect.
