All right, sucking it up and asking the community.
My pc specs:
Windows 7 Pro
8GB RAM (2x4GB)
i5-3570k
Hyper 212 evo
GTX 670 FTW
ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe
The PC is partially freezing every few seconds. Usually if I have 2 programs open, say ccleaner and MSE for example, one will freeze, then the other one, then the desktop, and then the taskbar. The mouse never freezes as I can always move it freely. The pc can last a few minutes without freezing at best. [strike]During the last lockup, hard reset was not able to shut off the pc.[/strike]
[strike]Also worth mentioning is that I am not sure if the pc is starting on safe mode. After I installed the motherboard I got from RMA, it has started in, for lack of a better term, half safe-mode. The taskbar is gray and the icons look like from windows 1998 and internet is not working even though it's connected through ethernet, but the resolution is not the one I usually see in safe mode, and the black edges around the image that I also usually see in safe mode aren't there and the desktop background is the custom pic I have set instead of the pitch black background with safe mode in the corners (Bierstadt A Storm in the Rocky Mountains if anyone is interested ).[/strike]
Nvm about the half-safe mode and the hard reset not working. The computer is running windows normally, not in safe mode, and the hard reset was not working because I clumsily unplugged the cable on the motherboard that specifically connected the power button and the motherboard.
What I've tried to fix this:
*Ran memtest86 a couple times and it passed without detecting problems.
*I uninstalled Malwarebytes as suggested in another thread. Didnt notice any changes afterwards.
*I tried to narrow down the problem. I have tested the pc without graphics card, with only one of the two RAM sticks inserted at a time, but the pc always froze without any change.
*I RMA'd the motherboard, and the freezing persists even with the motherboard ASUS sent me (I doubt both motherboards happen to have the same problem)
*I ran MSE scan and it detected no viruses.
*I ran sfc /scannow and it detected no errors.
At this point I have exhausted all my knowledge of googling problems. Thanks to anyone who helps, I'm at a complete loss right now.
