I currently have a NTSC SCPH-30001 model PlayStation 2 with the infamous "disc read error" problem. I have opened my PlayStation 2's disc compartment (being careful so I don't get blinded by the disc reader) and attempting to turn the compatibility (white) wheel. I went around 4 ticks at a time with a few games but I still have the error. I noticed, however, when I went to change the compatibility (white) wheel again, it reset to it's default position. Some people have suggested flipping the console, but I am worried that might damage the disc and components. That might be possible since it was recommended to flip the original model PlayStation 1 to remove heat. What should I do to fix the error?
