Happened once before, but it was solved easily by loading BIOS defaults. This time... not so lucky. Desktop was working, suddenly it black screened when I alt tabbed back into a fullscreen game, I decided to restart and now it's giving me Q code AE.

Spec...
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage V Extreme
CPU: i7-5820K
GPU: EVGA Geforce 980ti
PSU: EVGA 1300 G2 1300W
RAM: 4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 4GB
OS: Win 10
Main boot: Toshiba MQ01ABD100H 1TB SSHD

Tried clearing CMOS and setting BIOS to default, not helping. boot device is detected just fine in BIOS but it wont get past BIOS still. CPU pins are properly seated.

Very new to building, this was my first build. Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

Solution
Q-Code AE is a legacy boot event. This means that something is booting wrongly.
Are you correctly booting from the Hard drive in the bios? Is there a USB thumb drive connected? Do you have an optical drive? If yes, disconnect the flash or optical drive. Some people had this issue where is tried to boot from the optical drive.

If removing the optical drive doesn't work, my suggestion: Try using a single stick of RAM then booting. If it doesn't work, try with another single stick. RAM issues are common for any type of error.

If it still doesn't work, it may be an issue with the SSHD or video card. Do you have another video card or bootable hard drive available? Also, verify your cable connections. Try using HDMI instead of VGA or...

Hope this helps. ^^
