I have been playing games on my system for a while with various problems that have been solved but this one I just cant get a grip of.

I have been playing fortnite with no hiccuping or stuttering but since yesterday with no external influence (installing new software/hardware) mjy game is hitching and stuttering. It didnt do this the other day and nothing has changed as far as I'm aware of.

I have tried:

1. DDU three different Nvidia drivers

2. Uninstalled nearly every other program

3. Ran CHKDSK and Passmark software

4. Checked temperatures for both CPu and Gpu both are low, even under load.

5. Fiddled with Nvidia settings and set windows to high performance

6. I couldn't system restore because its telling me I haven't made any points.

This is quite bizarre and I would really appreciate some help. I REALLY don't want to go through the hassle of reinstalling windows, but I will if it helps.

Recently purchased Evga bronze 500w. How would a power supply effect stuttering in games, especially since I had no stuttering previous to that with the same one? I though if components couldn't draw enough power that they would't be on.

Not saying this pertains to your psu but some of the i guess you would say questionable ones are rated higher than they advertise and are built with lower quality components which wear out quickly. You did not specify how old the sytem was. As an example if you had a questionable psu and it ran fine for a year the second year in most cases it will start to loose power and have other issues There are a ton of posts on toms pertaining to that. That is why i asked.
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html This is a decent guide on psus and a tiier list and intended use.
As to will the components turn on yes but will give degraded performance.
from what I have read yours is considered a tier 3 psu while it is a stable platform it is not recomended for serious over clocking or high power draw components.
I m not saying this is your issue just trying to explain why its good to list the psu when asking for help.

Ok, since my framerates are quite normal, I don't think this is my issue, especially since it is very new and I wasn't previously having this issue. thanks though

@benwinwood6, it's not just you. I even have random stutters since the past few patches in fortnite and my system specs are way above par. I'm willing to bet it's something on Epic's side, and not your computer. Especially if you didn't change anything but the PSU and you mentioned you had no issues for a while on the new one and now suddenly issues. Your specs are easily fine to run fortnite and ignore the "PSU Tier" Talk. EVGA has PSU's almost on par with Corsair's reputation and even though it's a Bronze certified, You didn't mention you were overclocking it, and aren't running SLI or anything crazy so that 500 EVGA should easily power a single 970 with 8GB.
