I have a 300mbps plan but my router only gives me 100

So I have this router:

https://eu.dlink.com/uk/en/products/dir-809-wireless-ac750-dual-band-router

it says it is a 750mb router and I`m inclined to believe it, but when I plug in the CAT6 LAN ethernet cable from my router to my PC all I get is 100mb (as per speedtest by ooka)

Any ideas on how I can get 300mb?

FYI the main ethernet cable does indeed output 300mb (I`ve tested), the issue lies somewhere in the router.

-Thanks a lot for any assistance!

That is what you get for believing marketing hype. First they add the 2 radio speeds together to get the 750 but a single pc can only use 1. Then they assume unrealistic conditions. Wireless is half duplex so you have to cut the number in half at least.

Still that is not the reason your router runs slow since you are using ethernet which does not use the wifi radios.

Your router only has 100mbit ethernet ports..both wan and lan.

You need a router that has gigabit ethernet ports.

Hey man,

Thanks a lot for the clarification. I`ll go on a hunt for a gigabit router I guess :D This one shown in the link is a router I have for more than a year now and until yesterday my plan was for 100mb so I never actually knew that it could not provide more than a 100mb connection.

Thanks for opening my eyes to this matter, I`ll try to do more research before I buy my next router.
