Hey all,

My current PC i bought around 8 years ago for work and is now pretty useless at gaming. I've had advice from a shop on what to buy but I'd like to build one myself if possible.

I have a £2000 budget ($2660) and want the pc to be optimised for gaming (I'm retired so no more work!). Please can one of you clever guys and gals point me in the right direction?

Cheers,

Sam

£2000 is a lot of money to spend on a gaming build to say the least. Im assuming you already have all the peripherals (mouse, monitor etc.). The build I threw together is pretty much the best gaming performance you can get atm. Ofcourse all of this is subject to change, as pc hardware market is developing extremely quickly and new hardware might be considered outdated in a year or so. This could be a complete overkill depending on your resolution and games you play.

Good luck :)

Hero! Thanks so much Yeti, that is just what I was after. Well to be honest I will need a new monitor as well to make the most of it as mine is pretty useless. How much would a half decent one set me back? I guess i want it all for around 2000 but don't mind a few hundred either way.

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge

If you don't care to overclock the CPU.

Most monitors nowdays offer either sharper image quality or higher refresh rate (smoother experience). Unfortunately a combination of those two usually does cost quite a bit. I would also recommend picking up a 2k or 4k monitor, as lower resolutions will not be able to utilize full performance of the graphics card.
Here are some options at different price points:
