Hi,
I just recently changed my old stock CPU cooler for a Scythe Mugen 5 in the hopes of lowering my CPU temps, when idle or doing simple things like writing this thread or watching youtube it does not really exceed 60c but when I run games it starts to creep up around 80-96 range. on AMD overdrive it says I had thermal margins of 30 or less. I am wondering if this is a big problem or it is normal and whether it was my CPU cooler or something else. My specs are:

Case- Coolermaster Masterbox lite 5 RGB
CPU- AMD A10 7700k Radeon R7
CPU Cooler- Scythe Mugen 5
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-F2A88XM-D3H
GPU- Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 SC

(I have the 3 front fans sucking the air out of the case and the back one also sucking out. the Mugen fan is has the exhaust facing towards the front three fans.)

I would really like to know if this is normal for this CPU or how to fix it, thanks in advance.

Solution
You should see lower temps to a point, but that depends on things like ambient temps.
Since it would seem you have no intake that would likely be part of the issue. You should switch all the front fans to intake, and turn the cooler around (this means new thermal paste if you have to take it off).

sorry, I didn't mean for the downvote, but should the CPU cooler lowered the temps when I got the same temps with eh AMD stock cooler? or is it just for noise purposes?

I mean essentially yes. however, my room is quite stuffy and hot. how would you recommend setting the fans then? the bottom one as cool air the top three as exhaust?

Hmm - did you change the fans from the way they came installed? It appears to have three intakes, not exhaust.

Edit: nevermind, thought they were included. Fronts and bottom are intake, rear and top are exhaust. Should have equal or slightly more in than out.

Edit 2: ^ that. Cpu pushes out the back.

See i had the all the front fans as intake and I had near the same results. also what do you mean by turn the cooler around? like having the fan face the back fan? I dont have much experience with these CPU cooler/ airflow type of thing.

Turns out all I need to do was turn the CPU as you said but instead of turning all the fans to intake I only turned the bottom and I'm seeing a lot better results thank you very much!
Edit: as soon as I put the side panel back on I tried to play and I started getting thermal margins of about 26ish consistently could this be all about the fans again and I just need one more to intake air or..?
