I am going to buy one piece with my first check and then the second piece with my second check.

I am going to upgrade my computer soon . I have 8gb of ram,i5 6500 CPU and an asus g1060 6gb vram. I want to be able to run the top games . Now I am debating whether if I should get an intel i7-8700k or just get a graphics card upgrade first. Also the i7 is on sale for $200 off but the 1080 is on sale for 500 so I am curious to know which one I should get first.

The 8700K is not compatible with your existing motherboard if you have an i5-6500. You could look to an i7-6700/K or i7-7700K for the higher clock speeds & addition of hyper-threading though.

What resolution do you game at? Are you monitoring your CPU/GPU/RAM usage? If so, are any of those hitting 100% usage? If so, that's where to start with your upgrade(s).

The processor and Gpu are hitting aroung 90%-99% on gta v having most the settings on very high . 1920x1080 is my resolution and also fps is around 44-58

If both are running in the 90+% range, you're pretty well balanced.

You're probably not going to see FPS improvements anywhere close to proportionate to the cost of a new GPU.

You could probably turn up the settings to Ultra or whatever GTAV's max is with a new GPU but, other than that, I wouldn't expect too great an improvement (in GTA V anyway)
