Hi all, please i need your help.I'm having some issues with the temperatures of my CPU.In idle i reach 60°,if i play some games i can reach even 70° or a bit more.I'm a bit worried.I know,my desktop pc is an old one but now i dont have the possibility to buy a new one.Even while im writing this message the ° is around 61°.I changed the thermal compound using an Arctic mx4,but it doesnt helped much ,i got a decrease of 5 or 6°.Im using an old default cooler ( the stock one ).Im gonna buy a new one and i would to know which one is better between them.My CPU is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300

What about in the case itself? Is it dusty? How many intake and exhaust fans do you have? Where are they located? What case are you using?

Is this a laptop, or desktop? You stated laptop, but linked desktop coolers... so I'm confused.

If a laptop, have you blown out dust etc? The thermal contact won't matter if the heatpipes etc cannot remove the heat.

Similarly, for a desktop - how is the dust build up? What does case airflow look like?

I don't recall a Q9300 being implemented in a laptop, so most likely a desktop.....

What happen if I keep using the pc with 60° temperatures? I risk to damage the cpu? If my cpu has a TDP of 95 watt really I need a cooler over 100w? Thank you all

I'd look into something much beefier as the TJ maxx on that is right around 71-72c, so you're getting up there temperature-wise. I got this from a really old post from a user having the same issue, it gives an idea on temps for that CPU, what's safe and what's not. It looks like your floating around the upper part of warm, so you might be ok. However I'd still look into a better cooler.

Q9300: Tcase Max 71c, Stepping M1, TDP 95W, Idle 16W
...

-Tcase/Tjunction-
--70--/--75--75--75--75-- Hot
--65--/--70--70--70--70-- Warm
--60--/--65--65--65--65-- Safe
--25--/--30--30--30--30-- Cool

Hi thanks for your reply. At moment i'm in the warm situation :D but after some hours i need turn off the pc cuz my cpu reach 75° and the fan starts sounds like an hairdryer. So i decided to replace the stock cooler. Here the answer:
My motherboard is one of the typical one used from HP - Eureka3 Ipiel-la3 ,exactly this one in the following link.
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01746799

I would replace my trash stock cooler with this one

The cooler website says is totally compatibile with a socket 775 mboards,so there shoudn't be problems, right? The compatility is decided from socket only or from motherboards too? Sorry for the newb question.Thank u all in advance
