So my hard drive is failing I'm assuming so I bought a new one and it's arriving Saturday, I need to know what needs to be done. Is it as simple as take out the bad one put the new one in and boot it up via flash drive and install Windows 10 again or is there more to this?

if the failing one is still operational there is an option to clone an image file to the new hdd or to an external one and when the new disk arrive to clone it up on it and then you won't have to deal with installation and backing up stuff. a good and simple program i used before is ACRONIS.
good luck.
