I upgraded my g4600 to a i5 8600k, and now my computer wont boot. It turns on for a second then turns itself off once with no loop. Put old cpu back in and it won't turn on still but this time it has a boot loop.

I got a AIO cooler also so I took the motherboard out only to realize the cooler wont even fit. So I put my old stock Intel cooler back on my new cpu and now I'm running into the problems. I re checked all the cables and they seem to be fine. I built this PC but it was my first so I am no expert. I updated the bios before all this btw

Intel g4600 / i5 8600k
8gb ram
Gigabyte b250m ds3h
1050 ti

they had to come out with a new chipset do to how much more power was needed for the newer cpu with more then four cores. the newer mb have bigger vrm and may not be pinned the same as the older cpu. if clearing the bios with the older cpu does not get the mb to post. you may have fried the old mb and may need to rma it.

Does the computer have enough time to perform a POST test?

Is there any way you can get into the BIOS before it shuts off?

Also, are you applying thermal paste to the CPUs when you put them in?

No. I should have mentioned that it fails to post. Can't get into bios
