2133MHz, i5 8600k or 2666MHz, i5 8400?

I want to get an i5 8600k for my PC and pair it with my GTX 1060 6GT OCV1, however, my ram is only SK Hynix 1x8 2133MHz CL15 RAM and i'm not sure if this is enough or whether i should get an i5 8400 and get Corsair Vengeance 2x4 2666MHz CL15 RAM.

Do you think that upgrading to Dual Channel and higher MHz RAM will merit enough performance for the extra £80 or should i stick with the 2133MHz, try to overclock it to 2400MHz and have the performance boost in games with the i5 8600k.

I will eventually get the better ram but that will be a while from now and i don't know how much performance is impacted by the ram.

The main issue with your RAM isn't the speed, but more so the single channel. With only one stick it runs in single channel as opposed to Dual with 2 sticks which hurts performance. However, in my personal opinion i'd get the 8600K first over the 8400 and instead of buying a new kit of RAM, look for another single stick of 8GB and you can run 16GB in Dual Channel. Just try to find the same stick as what you have to reduce chances of any incompatibility. You can mix match sticks but i don't recommend it if you can avoid it. Hope this helps! :)
