Gentlemen, fear not I have read every piece of information I can, and do not want to believe my luck has once again presented in the beautiful fashion of me receiving a faulty graphics card from factory.

Here’s the story. Ran an AMD R9 270x and out of the blue one day the display just went black. Fans working, powered up, cables good etc. I replaced my pc gaming with a ps4 and more friends and now after a year plus I want to get back into pc gaming. So I just bought a GTX 1060 to play on while I save enough scrap for a total pc rig in the coming future.

The problem. Black screen when my new 1060 is plugged in and powered on (6pin and a 650w power supply). My MB is an MSI 970A-G43 (does NOT have any on board ports). I was never able to delete any drivers or add any because what the hell was I going to plug into my monitor?!

I got a baby Radeon card through a buddy to at least get me on (there are actually no drivers needed for this sucker). From there I went online to download the latest drivers for not only my system which has been offline for over a year but also my now new graphics card.

I went online to download the latest GeForce drivers but wouldn’t you have guessed... I don’t have any hardware in my system so it wouldn’t download! So... I plugged in my card in my secondary pcie port, had my hdmi running from baby Radeon to my monitor and was able to download the drivers.

Error 43 (or whatever) so splendid. I didn’t think it would work anyways because I didn’t have the connectors for 2 cards and didn’t set it up anyway. But, but at least the drivers were on there.

The troubleshooting:
-I ran the DDU and deleted all the AMD drivers but NOT the NVidia drivers I just installed. Shut down and turned on with just the 1060, still black screen.
- I reset bios (this was 2 days before just to confirm my r9 was in fact dead)
- headed into my bios menu (only through baby Radeon) and found nothing out of the ordinary and there was NO option to turn off auto and set pcie 2.
- I ran DVI just to test even though hdmi is this cards primary video, still black.

The only way I can view anything on my pc is through baby Radeon ( hope you like the name). Here I can see that the NVidia drivers are in fact up to date according to the managers properties, but it does say error 43 with a yellow triangle.

Now, what questions or information do you still need to help me out here, I’m sure I’m missing info but I appreciate the long read!
