I have a 7947 IBM X3650 M2 that originally housed a single Xeon x5550 to which i've upgraded to a single Xeon X5687 but now the system refuses to post.
The diagnostics panel does not show any errors what so ever but above PCI-E Riser #2 there is an LED lit which says BMC_CATERR from which i've gathered means CATastrophic ERRor with the processor.
The UEFI has been updated to the latest version (1.22). In version 1.06 they added support for the Xeon X56xx series processors and in this video proves that the X5650 works in the IBM X3650 M2

The server was not updated with the update pack but was updated by selecting individual updates (UEFI)
When the original x5550 is placed back into the rack it boots just fine without any issues
What should i try to do?
I've removed each DIMM individually
All external devices removed as well has HDD's
I took the processor out and cleaned the contacts with a que tip dipped in methylated spirits and still nothing.
Should i be changing anything in the bios beforehand?
does IMM have to be installed for it to work?
Is there any way to print out a log of what exactly is happening?
