NO VIDEO → Could it be my CPU?

Hello, guys!

I'm needing some guidance here. I have the following set-up:
ASUS A320M-K
RYZEN 3 1300X
BALLISTIX DDR4 16GB 2400MHz
Hyper X DDR4 8GB 2400MHZ (reserve. I don't use it)
RADEON RX560

Recently my PC turned on, but there was no video. Keyboard lights were working and responding (num lock and caps lock) what made me think for a moment that it could be the monitor. Then I tested the monitor and cables with my laptop, and everything was fine with it, so the problem could be on computer side.

As my Ryzen does not have onboard GPU, I am short on possibilities (I'm unable to use onboard video)... so I started by replacing the memories: nothing. Removed everything, cleaned the contacts and put again: nothing. Removed all USB plugs and HDD: nothing. As It was late night, I decided to try again next day.

In the day after my PC worked as nothing has happened... It passed a week working perfectly (FPS stable during games, no freezing, no hanging... everything perfect!) until last wednesday, when the same problem appeared again. After a lot of workarounds (remove, cleaning, clear CMOS, changin the memories, disconnecting HDD, etc), I finally could see the POST screen, but for a short moment... it disappeared and then the problem returned. (The caps lock still blinking on my command).

As I had nothing else to try, I left my PSU, MOBO and GPU in the store that I bought them because these parts are still covered by local warranty. It passed a week and now they just called me and said that everything is OK. EVERYTHING... IS... OK!!!

On the other hand, they did not tested my HDD, memories and CPU, because I bought them on internet.

So, now I'm thinking about these scenarios:

1. The processor is not recognizing the graphics card (thus, a faulty CPU);
2. It is a MOBO-related issue (and the store's technical assistance is wrong in diagnostics; thus, a faulty MOBO);
3. It is a GPU-related issue (and the store's technical assistanc is wrong; thus, a faulty GPU);
4. The combo RYZEN 3 1300X + A320M-K + CRUCIAL BALLISTIX is unstable (in this case, which part should be replaced?);

Which one seems to be more plausible? Have you ever seen this?

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

The main ram is a Crucial Ballistix Sports (allegedly compatible with my MOBO in recent BIOS updates; I'm using BIOS version 4011). The reserve is an HyperX Fury.

I tested with both of them and got no effect. :(

(Both rams sticks are ok. Recently I tested them with memtest86 and got 3 flawlless passes)

Right! Did it :D

(I'm using DVI cable. The onboard outputs are VGA and HDMI)

There are a couple of BIOS updates after version 4011.
There are several Crucial Ballistix Sports models so make sure the one you have is compatible with your motherboard.

Unplug the power, press the power button for 15 seconds, remove the CMOS battery, remove the disk and place one stick of RAM on slot A1.
Place the CMOS battery back, plug the power cord and press power button.
Are you able to get into the BIOS?

I've checked the memories in ASUS compatibility list (mine is the BLS16G4D240FSB. The one listed in QVL for Ryzen 1st gen is the BLS16G4D240FSE. The only difference between them is the color of the heat spreader: mine is silver, the listed one is red. Also I have the HyperX HX424C15FB that is listed in QVL and got no video too).

I'm unable to update the BIOS because I got no video at all! The 4011 was the newest when I updated it. (Now, I have seen the newest is the 4023. I'm gonna ask them to update it for me).

Did not tried to press button without the power cable. Gonna try this tomorrow just after picking up my parts.

I'll keep you informed.

Thanks!

Hi, sorry for late response. My child has born, and I was unable to check anything else than pooped diapers. :)

Well, I asked the tech support to update my BIOS to latest version (4023), and since then my PC returned to work normally.

But, now every time I power it down, I turn off the power button on PSU. (Before that, I kept it switched to "I" position).

I'll keep watchin if the issue returns, and in this case (i hope not), I'll bring it here again.

Thanks for the tips!

See ya!

Thank you! :D

Well, about the PSU... I did not tried to keep it powered on yet. I usually shut down the surge protector every night. The first time the problem appeared was when I forgot to shut it down... So, I do not want to risk it again.
