Hi Everyone,

First of all thanks for your time :) I need some advice about what you think is the best opportunity in my situation, I would like to upgrade my Card because I cannot longer play in High/Ultra with titles from this year, this is my current pc:

CPU: Ryzen 1600
GPU: MSI R9 390
Ram: 16 GB
SSD
Monitor 27 inch 1080p 75Hz Free sync

I'm planning to buy a 1440p monitor summer next year, but if I'm already playing in medium in new titles I guess I need to upgrade first the GPU then the monitor.

About the cards, the GTX 1070 ti has 2 years of warranty from the shop, so I guess no a problem at all, it was used in the store for 3 months as a demonstration.

The GTX 1080 is from a private person, was bought in February this year, he has the invoice and the warranty is also for 2 years but I guess will be more troublesome in case of any problems.

My question is also, I hear a lot that the gtx 1080 is overkill for a 1080p gaming but that was almost the same with my R9 390 3 Years ago, so I Believe that maybe now is overkill but in few months titles will start to use more an more resources, would it be a good card for 3-4 years playing in 1440?

BTW AMD is not an option, here the cheapest that you can find it is 550eur for the VEGA 64, and my PSU is just 600w, I know that my monitor is free sync but the difference is the price is just too much

Solution
1. A brand new KFA2 GTX1070ti EX should cost about €429 by mindfactory. I would thus rather not get any 1070ti as second-handed items (from exhibition or whatsoever)
2. For 1080p, GTX1070, 1070ti and 1080 are already plenty.
3. Your plan to go 1440p is the one, which needs more attention. I would grab at least a GTX1080Ti /2080 is you try to max everything and try to reach over 100 FPS on most games.
4. If 1440p plan is already fixed, I would grab directly to a GPU which can run high FPS on this resolution rather than trying to upgrade the GPU again in a short time.

Hi Roosevelt_2003,

The GTX 1080 is great for 1080p 144Hz. In fact in some games , at ultra settings, I "only" get 80-90 FPS...
Buying a 1080 now ensure you to be able to play games on high at 1080p for 2-3 years.

Going for a 1070 Ti now, you'll need a GPU upgrade for next game I think or do some compromise on settings. You choose!
