What's a good budget upgrade from a 3570k?

Hey all, I recently bought a 1080ti for my current build. I play at 1440p at 144Mhz and I am running a Intel Core i5 3570K on a GA-Z77X-UD3H.

I was planning to to wait for Zen 2 but I heard it's probably going to release in late 2019. I haven't kept up with CPUs but could anyone recommend a cheap but noticeable upgrade that could hold me over until zen 2?

Are you willing to change Motherboards and RAM aswell otherwise your limited to your CPU's based on your existing Motherboard..... Most CPU's for that Motherboard are discontinued but an i7-3770K would be a very small upgrade and not worth it in my opinion.

Yeah since I'll upgrade to Zen 2 when it comes out I am playing to buy good RAM and a compatible mobo anyway.

If your that keen on the Zen 2 i would wait it out to do it all at the same time mate. Cant see a release date anywhere, have you considered a 2600x ?

Im not an AMD fanboy but they seem extremely popular as a gaming CPU

I heard that the difference in performance with a 3570k and a 2600 is very small and wouldn't be worth but I don't know how accurate that is.

OK, better solution for you !!! Grab yourself a better CPU Cooler (presuming you are using stock at the moment) and Overclock that CPU. Overclocking these days is very simple and all major board manufacturers now automate the process in their BIOS via a tuning wizard that asks some simple questions !!!

For less than $100 you could get an additional 20% out of your PC to free up the 1080ti to perform better.

For Air Coolers look at the Noctua range or for AIO look at NZXT or Corsair water cooling for the CPU only.

Unsure how detailed your skillset is but the K in the 3570K means its unlocked specifically for overclocking. Let me know if i can help further, feel free to PM me is you have overclocking questions or others !!!

I've been overclocking since early this year with a different cooler. I have it at 4.3 right now but its still sadly lagging behind.

Gotcha, i think without spending a fair amount of money you not going to get a significant upgrade, you have a decent system now !!!

What are your other system specs ? RAM, PSU e.t.c and we may be able to help more....Need the info in my signature if you know it for your current system....

Thats not a decent system and that CPU is going to bottleneck that GPU significantly.

A 2600 is a big improvement especially at 1440p. An,8600k would be better but also about $200 more expensive.

Of course it is but given the motherboard there not much of an option, neither the 2600 or 8600K will fit.....

Op is after a cheap solution to their current build with a CPU upgrade and not a system redesign.....
