Was installing a new case fan into PC- Fairly old 120mm case fan on my side panel. I boot it up and the fan starts spinning, but it was caught on something and was hitting it. It did it for about two seconds and I turned the computer off. When I move the blockage out of the way the pc starts but the fan doesn't start anymore.
Did I just break the fan? Do they break that easily?

Put your thumb and forefinger on each side of the centre of the fan and squeeze it together. If the central part of the fan becomes seperated it will disturb the flow of power to the fan itself and may function on and off until reseated back into position. Worth a try.

I have used a spray of wd40 under the sticker side of the fan. almost all fans have a round sticker, under which is the pole for rotation of the fan and a rubber stopper. remove the rubber plug/stopper with a screwdriver or toothpick/needle by prying the side edge and taking it off. spray a bit of wd40 into there and rotate, getting most of the dust in there out. if that doesn't work well, then replace from newegg ebay amazon etc.
