Hi there,

I've had my pc apart about 5 times over the weekend trying to seat my H100i cooler. Finally got a good seating and low temps.

Annoyingly, now, only when in games I get a buzz from the speakers. It's fps related - if I look at the ground/sky the buzz gets higher pitched as fps increases, similarly, if I go to a lower fps area, the buzz slows down.

Switching to my usb wireless headset, there is no buzz.

I assume there is an interference issue between the GPU and motherboard on-board audio. I'm using the rear I/O connector direct to the on-board audio realtek module. connected to a set of creative speakers with an expensive audio cable with shielding.

Points to note: I put some washers on the H100i backplate which meant it touched the base of the motherboard tray - put a piece of A4 in between to see if electrically isolating made any difference - nope.

Thought maybe the GPU was actually coming into contact with the audio I/O block so put a thermal pad between the two - nope.

The motherboard mounting screws have worn 'some' of the little solder dots of the top face of the motherboard (I assume it needs to earth?!) though I assume the motherboard itself earths primarily through the ground of the 24 pin power connector?

I assume it doesn't matter if the I/O backplate touches the rear connectors, in fact, I assume this is the design.

Can't think what else to try, other than try it without the GPU (RTX 2080) installed, but I pretty much know the issue is interference between the GPU and board.

Any locations on the board I can ground with a flying lead to give the best chance of grounding?

thinking of felt washers to try to isolate the motherboard from the standoffs, maybe some foil in a plastic bag placed between the GPU and audio section of motherboard?

Turning the sound level down, and the analog, speaker knob up somewhat alleviates the issue.

Does this issue sound like grounding through the board, or EMI ?!
