Hello everyone. So I bought a secondhand laptop off eBay as my desktop PC broke.

I tried running a game (OMSI 2) however I found thegame was completely unplayable. It loaded the game up okay (though it did take a long time) and I was literally only getting about one FPS if that and when I press the keyboard the computer simply wouldn't respond. :(

I was playing on the small village map with all the settings set to minimum. I even tried to set it to PC 2006 setting in the options menu but even then it wouldn't work (and the laptop was made in 2006). I found that nothing would work.

The specifications of the laptop are:
Intel core 2 duo processor
3 GB of RAM
160 GB hard drive
Windows 7 Pro

I even watched the video on the Internet of the laptop playing Minecraft which is why I bought it in the first place to replace my desktop PC.

This confuses me somewhat as my old Windows 7 desktop PC had 4 GB of RAM and an i5 processor okay it's more powerful than the laptop but it could play omsi 2 okay as long as the map wasn't too big or there wasn't too much traffic on the map.

What confuses me even more though is that I managed to play OMSI 1 on my old Windows XP machine with only 1 GB of ram and a single core AMD processor at 2 GHz ! I managed to run at least the small village map anyway though it couldn't run the big city map. And OMSI 1 and OMSI 2 are basically the same game, the only difference is basically you get a few extra buses and a different UI etc with OMSI 2.

The only thing I will mention is that I checked the task manager while the game was running, the game was only using about 1 GB of ram and the hard drive activity was barely doing anything, however the CPU usage was close to 100 percent, so maybe that has something to do with it. However the processor is dual core so I am confused as to why the CPU usage will be so high especially as I managed to run essentially the same game on the single core processor on my old PC.

Could anyone know what the issue would be?

The laptop was already had a fresh install the only thing they done was installed a few basic programs such as open office, VLC media player, Skype, Windows security essentials etc.

For any used PC or laptop, you personally need to do a full wipe and reinstall.

How well do you trust the source where he got the OS install from? Hint: You have no idea where it came from.

First of all I got off the pc off a top rated seller (99% satisfaction rating off eBay).

The seller is called Hightech GB and they are a big company based in Birmingham, UK. They sell many different products, mainly computers though.

So yes I fully trust the seller. Honestly the PC didn’t have any personal data on it whatsoever when I got it, it has been fully wiped already as was stated in the description before I bought it, and anyway, how on earth would I reinstall windows as I don’t have the installation disc?

Everything else on laptop works fine, it is just when I try to load up the game it doesn’t work for some reason, despite it working on the previous computers I had before. "secondhand laptop off eBay"
That says nothing about a "big company". That simply says you bought it from some dude.

1. MS licensing rules require that the seller give you a means to do a clean install. Especially with OS before Win 10.
With Win 7, that means a COA, the DVD to install with, and the actual license key.
At the very least, this will be on a factory Recovery partition on the drive. And this partition needs to give you the means to create your own DVD or USB.

2. Personally, I don't care who it is...unless I personally break the package seal direct from the manufacturer...full wipe and install.
But that's just me.

Now, on to your game problem.
It doesn't run right?

What diagnostics have you tried?
memtest, the drive manufacturer diag, reinstall of the game...
