Hi I have a AMD athlon II x 2 260 and it's only showing that I am running on 2 cores when I load it up it says press for to activate for cause done that still nothing then I've tried going into bios resetting it and still nothing tried going into miss config and then advanced options and only showing 2 cores so don't know what to do help me guys please

Solution
The x2 doesn't mean 2 processors, and it doesn't mean quad core. Its a dual core processor which has 2 cores. If your PC was recognising it as a SINGLE core processor, then there'd be a problem. But what you are describing is not a problem :)

Hi,

This is normal operation, the Athlon II x2 260 IS a dual core processor. Think of it as Athlon 2nd Generation and the x2 refers to the number of cores the processor has. They also made Athlon II x3 which were triple core processors and Athlon II x4 which were quad core processors.

What you mean access the X 2? Your CPU should only run two cores with two treads. The only access you should have besides your PC turning on and running software, is being able to see those cores run in task manager. I am not sure what your getting at.
