I have this issue for several months now. It seems MSI tech support hasn't been helpful at all. The problem is when I put my PC to sleep mode, the PC either reboot or give me blank screen after I attempted wake my PC up using wired mouse or keyboard (press any key).

Attempt made to solve this issue:
1. MSI tech support thought this is motherboard issue. Swapped the motherboard and the sleep problem is still happening.
2. Follow this solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5812iHhpfQ - no luck.
3. Tried to downgrade Intel Management Engine Interface Driver version 11 to V.9.5.24.1790 1.5M (like other user did), but I got this message when I attempted to install "the computer does not meet minimum requirements for installing the software"
4. I did clean install and update BIOS and OS version. - no luck.

PC:
1. Motherboard MSI Z170 M5 gaming - BIOS version 1.8 - the latest BIOS version
2. Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 OS Build 10586.164

Any suggestion to solve the issue? Thank you in advance

I don't see any issues there. Clearly that PSU should be very good. I think you still have a motherboard issue. That would be my only guess unless something is wrong with the power supply. Maybe make sure all the C states are enabled in the bios settings?

I just swapped the motherboards. Another motherboard issue? What is C states? USB DEvices and pci express wake on configuration is set to enabled on BIOS. I see there are several user who encounter the same issue.

Well, I'm not saying that in THIS case it's a motherboard issue, for sure, but what I WILL say is that the number of times I've seen back to back faulty motherboards or power supplies, on this forum alone, is in the hundreds of instances. Especially if they were purchased from someplace like Fry's or Micro center, where they tend to take returns, re-shrink the packaging and sell them again. And yes, I've personally seen this more than once.

Also, the majority of the time when you RMA hardware, what you get back is supposedly "refurbished", which just means that they stuck it on their test bench, it passed basic tests and was deemed fine and shipped back out to the next person whether the original problem that caused that unit to be sent to them was actually corrected/found or not. Unless you received a factory shrink wrapped, unopened unit, that had clearly never been tampered with from the way it would originally been purchased off the warehouse shelf, you could easily have been given the same board back or another board with the same problem.

However unlikely that might be, it does happen. It's probably NOT the case in your case, but it happens.

I think your problem is more likely to be a configuration setting or a problem related to the PSU. WHAT exactly, I don't know.

C states are in the bios. I'd probably start by going into the bios and setting optimal defaults. If that doesn't work, go into the bios settings and make sure none of the C states, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7, are disabled. And make absolutely sure that hybrid sleep and hibernation are BOTH disabled in the control panel advanced power options.

C states is enabled in BIOS. Hybrid and hibernation mode is off. They said probably my RAM. I do not have any spare RAM to test. Is it even possible because of RAM? and is it even possible because of PSU at all?

Both COULD be responsible. That doesn't mean they are. I'd run Memtest86 for several passes. That will take several hours so plan accordingly. I doubt the PSU is to blame, but it's always possible. Even brand new hardware can and often does, have issues.

Did you do a clean install of windows, deleting all the existing partitions on the boot drive, with NO other drives connected to the system at the time you installed, or did you simply RE-INSTALL over the existing installation, basically doing a refresh or reset?

Have you installed ALL of the motherboard drivers from the motherboard product page, NOT relying on the microsoft supplied native drivers. Not having the motherboard OEM driver versions installed for the chipset and storage controllers can often cause sleep issues.

Also, if you're using a power strip or surge protector, try plugging directly into the wall instead. Those strips are known for causing a variety of power related issues, especially on low quality models, which includes those sold at dollar stores as well as most models sold by companies like Monster and Belkin.

Might also be worthwhile to do a clean install of the graphics drivers using the DDU and make sure that automatic driver updating is turned off in Windows 10 so it doesn't automatically change drivers you've intentionally installed.

I just installed all video card and motherboard driver. At first, the sleep issue already occurred even i didn't not install any video card driver. I will try to do clean install again and run the unistaller software for video card.

Let me share a similar experience. I've an HP Pavilion n208tx laptop, which came with inbuilt Windows 8. I updated the version to Windows 10 and I started getting the similar issue. Whenever I used to keep the laptop in sleep mode, it'd just get unresponsive. I tried the method shared by darkbreeze in the video, but seems like my issue was different. I updated the BIOS using the HP BIOS update, and it seemed like it fixed the issue for a while, but then again it started. It seemed like some kind of driver or program was continuously running even when it was supposed to be stopped and it made the computer go in black screen or BSOD. I reinstalled all the drivers, updated them, removed synaptics and downgraded to the earlier version of graphics driver. All these solutions fixed the problem temporarily. Then I straightaway downgraded to win 8.1 and now everything seems to be working fine in terms of the quality and performance in apps like After effects and Photoshop, and even the Performance of games has been improved.
You can
1. Perform a system restore to an old restore point.
2. Reinstall Windows 10, (Without keeping anything on system drive, i.e. formatting the OS drive while reinstalling.
3. Downgrade to a lower OS, I know Windows 10 is very good in terms of looks and accessibility, but still, Windows 8 isn't much bad and besides, it'll remove all your problems!

Have a great day!

Downgrading to a previous OS isn't a solution, it's giving up. We try to not do that around here. Plenty of people using Windows 10 without sleep issues, so I'm sure it's likely something that can be resolved rather than just throwing in the towel and going back to 8.

I'm apologize for the late response.

I did clean install over the existing one and I didn't do clean install of the motherboard or any other driver (everything was connected when I did that). After that, I didn't install any driver - motherboard or GPU driver from the site. The only driver that I installed is GPU driver version 10.18.13.5891. I also tried the latest version of my GPU and it gave me the issue that I have so far. I did clean install again and using the DDU tool. So, I downgraded to the old version 10.18.13.5891 with no other driver updated drivers, only windows security update. The outcome is very positive for me - hibernation is working like a charm. Sleep issue is still there - when I did sleep mode, then i woke the PC up. Blank screen (my fan, motherboard, and etc were recognized it) -> no show at all on the screen after few minutes -> I decided to hard shutdown (hold power button) -> turned the PC back on -> All my application is still up and running, how is it possible after I did hard shutdown? Keep in mind, all the windows default setting was default. Then I disabled hhybrid mode and hibernation, it still the same issue with the sleep mode. At least, we can see where the issue is now. It appears the GPU driver here. My GPU is not compatible with my motherboards?? How can I clean install without any motherboards and GPU drivers install during installation? When I did clean install, I remove all the HD not sure if that will remove all the drivers.

I downloaded the driver from http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/94214. I just installed the GPU driver and all the additional tools - like HD audio, 3D, and etc - I didn't install. I couldn't get the old version of that driver in Asus GPU site

Ok, here's what I'd do, since it seems the problem is something in Windows itself, not the hardware. Keep in mind, you need to first back up any important files to a drive other than the one the operating system will be installed on. You will also need to reinstall all your applications afterwards.

1. Do this EXACTLY as outlined. AND, after backing up any files you need to back up such as browser favorites, documents, music, videos or pictures, disconnect all drives except the drive you want windows installed on:

http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1950-windows-10-clean-install.html

2. After that is done, do this:

http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-10-a.html

3. Next, do this:

http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2763685/stop-windows-automatically-updating-device-drivers.html

4. Then, install all of these:

SATA drivers: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_rst_skl_w10.zip

Audio drivers: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/realtek_hd_audio.zip

Killer network driver: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/Killer_network_Ke2400_inf.zip

Microsoft hotfix and Intel management engine driver: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_me_skl.zip

Intel serial I/O drivers: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_Serial_IO.zip

Intel chipset drivers: http://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/intel_chipse_9_w10.zip

5. Then download and run the DDU. Click "No" if it asks to update and then click No on the second box that pops up. Choose the Safe mode (Restart) option in the drop down box when you run the DDU:

http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,20.html

6. After the DDU restarts in safe mode and you run it, and it completes and reboots, then install this:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/100868/en-us

Lastly, reconnect any drives you previously disconnected.

Just did all the instruction you suggested DarkBreeze. Hibernation is working like charm. The Sleep issue is still the issue. PC set to sleep mode -> wake the PC up -> blank screen (everything is on) -> wait for few minutes, nothing comes up -> do hard shutdown -> turn the PC up -> my application is up and running, like before I set to sleep mode. GPU driver is the older version 35891. At this point, no internet connection and windows has not updated since clean installed.

Click Start, Click Control Panel,
Look at the top of the window, in the path bar you see “control panel >”
Click on “>” (in the path bar) now click on “all control panel options.”
(This will open up all the hidden controls available)
Click Power Options
click on the arrow to “show other plans”
Check the Box that says "high performance"
Click (in high performance) "change plan settings"
Turn off display: set to NEVER
Put the computer to sleep: set to NEVER
Click: Change advanced plan settings
Scroll down the list: Click on the + signs to expand the choices for each item on the list.
Require a password on wake up: set to NO
Hard disk: turn off the hard disk: set to NEVER
Wireless adapter settings:
Sleep: set to NEVER
Allow Hybrid sleep: set to NEVER
Hibernate after: set to NEVER
Allow wake timers: set to disable
USB settings:
USB selective suspend setting: set to NEVER
Power Buttons and lid:
Power button action: Setting: set to shut down
Sleep Button Action: set to: do nothing
PCI Express:
Link State Power Management, Setting: OFF
Processor Power Management: Minimum state (set to) 7%

System Cooling Policy: setting: Active
Maximum State (set to) 100%
Display
Turn off display after: setting: NEVER (turning off display automatically can cause freezing also)
Turn off the monitor power manually, when you want it off. Don’t use the auto monitor turn off.
Multimedia Settings:
When Sharing Media: Setting: Prevent idling to sleep
When Playing Video: Setting: Optimize Video
Click APPLY
Click OK

Open the bios set up and make sure "cool and quiet" is OFF. (AMD)
If there is a power saver or a "quiet mode" in the bios, shut it off...
There may be a performance setting in the bios setup you have...make sure it's cranked up to max.
in the bios, see that the allocation for video, if available, is maxed.

Now open the hardware manager profiles...
click start
click computer
click system properties
click device manager
double click on mice and other pointing devices
right click on HID compliant mouse
left click on properties
click on the power management tab
UN-check the box that says: "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." (there is now NO check mark in this box)
click OK

Now repeat this procedure for all mice, monitors, keyboards, and ALL USB ports on the device manager list.

You must open ALL the devices one at a time, as above, and turn off the power saver, for each device.

NOW turn all the security back ON. NOW open your security antivirus. Make sure the antivirus is set to "gaming mode." Or "multimedia mode."
This prevents the security updating from interrupting your game / multimedia priority.
IF the security does not have "gaming mode" or "multimedia mode" get different security.
IF you are using "free" security downloaded from the internet, get rid of it NOW.
Use ONLY professional all in one security. DO NOT load multiple mismatched security programs, which conflict with each other.
DO NOT load free tools into your system such as: "driver sweeper" or any of that "free" goofy stuff.

Don't use hibernate sleep or standby...
because when the computer wakes, it might not wake up 100%.
Try this and see if I'm right.

Doing what you've suggested would completely negate what he's trying to accomplish. He WANTS it to be able to sleep, he just wants it to also be able to WAKE from sleep. Your suggestions are perfectly fine for an always on work or gaming system that never needs to sleep, but is unsuitable for a system where sleep is desired. I would suggest making recommendations that actually fit the desires of the OP, not just what YOU think is a better way to configure the system.

Don't use hibernate sleep or standby...
because when the computer wakes, it might not wake up 100%.

And that, is totally inaccurate.

Yes, I did.. It doesn't solve the issue. I guess if I put hibernation mode for long period time, it's okay, right?

Actually, I'd fully disable hibernation, and see if sleep works then.

Press Windows + X keys to open Power menu and select Command Prompt (Admin)
To enable the Hibernate, type command powercfg/h on.
To disable the Hibernate, type command powercfg/h off.
