Using a VGA splitter to extend

Hello guys,
I have two monitors, both VGA cables and a Video card gtx650 with only one VGA port and a DVI-D port.
The operation I want to achieve is to use both monitors as extend and not as duplicate.

I have two options

1st
Buy a VGA to DVI-D adapter and connect the second one in the GPU.

2nd
Buy a VGA splitter (which is much cheapper) and connect the two screens in the splitter.

My question is. Will I be able to extend my desktop using the splitter?

No. As for the DVI-D to VGA, you'd need a converter, not adapter.

That cable you posted will only do a duplicate. Both monitors get the exact same image.
Not extend. The PC will see only one display.

The splitter is for displaying the same screen image on multiple monitors (think of sports bars, and airport arrival/departure displays). It won't let you display different things on the two monitors.

If your CPU has an integrated video card, you may be able to use the motherboard's video output for an extended display. Most of them output HDMI, but a lot of them from the GTX 650 era would also output VGA.

I will buy the converter guys, thank you. I said adapter as I translated directly from my language so yeah we are talking about the same thing.
