Will They Blend? The Kindle HD, the iPad, and the Nexus 7

By - Source: YouTube | B 28 comments

Unlike a teardown, these devices can't be put back together.

Will It Blend is probably one of our favorite marketing campaigns of all time. The series sees Blendtec founder Tom Dickson blending all manner of items, from smartphones to Big Macs to golf balls. This time around, Blendtec has done a shoot out of sorts, taking three of the top brand 7-inch tablets available today and pitting them against each other in an expensive experiment.

Which is going to blend better, the iPad mini, the Nexus 7, or the Kindle Fire HD? Check out the video below and take a look.

While this may seem pretty dumb and a waste of technology, one should keep in mind this is an ad campaign for Blendtec blenders. It has been extremely successful, increasing their sales by a remarkable 700%.

The part where he hits each tablet to the corner of the blender to fold it is pretty interesting. It looks like the Nexus 7 is the most resilient of the three, bouncing back to what looks like its original shape twice. The Kindle Fire HD bounces back but remains deformed. The iPad Mini instantly deforms (probably due to being thinner - there is a point where a product can be too thin).

As much as I don't like , I think those couple hundred dollars wasted should have gone to something useful, like maybe hurricane aid...

I'm impressed by how well the metal and glass was shredded. I've had blenders that can't chop crackers into dust.

dooooodWhat a waste. Irresponsible and stupid.

An American businessman, Tom Dickson, takes $1200 worth of foreign manufactured products and destroys them in his American made blenders, in videos that go viral, thereby increasing his sales by around 700%, providing more jobs, and millions in additional revenue for his company and his employees. That doesn't sound irresponsible or stupid to me. It sounds like he spent that $1200 quite well. The man certainly knows how to market a product.

Unless your goal is to draw attention to your companies Blenders by a HUGE amount with a cheap youtube ad campaign.

Meanwhile.... I was traumatized by the footage. Those poor defenseless tablets just wanted to have a peaceful life playing Netflix movies...

have to agree with you, i hate it when anything gets destroyed when it could have been put to use for someone.

yea i can see that... now, tell me.
company can produce 10 blenders an hour (example)
    sells 1 blender an hour
puts this out and sells 7 blenders an hour

never having to higher more people, and was sustainable at 1 an hour
im not saying thats what happened, but im saying its possible.

and i hate it when any thing gets destroyed for the purpose of advertizeing.

Realize too that these are high end blenders that cost in the same range as the tablets.

They should have a Will it blend: blendtec blender. To see if it can blend itself. woah...mind blown
