Apple's iPhone Event Confirmed for September 10

Thunderbirds are go for the rumored iPhone event we've been hearing about for weeks. Apple this morning sent out invitations to the press for a September 10 event at its Cupertino campus in California.

True to Apple's style, the invitations are pretty light on details for the event itself, so we're left to wonder what we'll see this day next week. However, thanks to a very active rumor mill, we've got a pretty good idea of what we're going to get. For the last few months, the web has been buzzing with talk of the iPhone 5S, which will apparently be available in both gold and silver, in addition to the usual black and white. Not only that, but there's been an abundance of talk about the iPhone 5C, a cheaper, entry-level iPhone that will feature a plastic casing and come in a range of colors. Word on the street is that this iPhone 5C will pack the same specs as the current iPhone 5, while the iPhone 5S will feature a faster processor, biometric fingerprint scanner and an upgraded camera.

Color is about the only thing Apple's invite confirmed. Carrying the tag line, 'This should brighten everyone's day,' and adorned with bubbles in a rainbow of colors, the theme here is cheerful. Would it be too much of a stretch to assume cheap and cheerful?

  • If the cheap iphone 5C was offered as either a contract phone or a prepaid/go phone, I would consider getting one of those. They have really good prepaid monthly plans for people like me who only text. Of course, that would mean entering the prepaid/go phone market, which I don't see Apple doing.

"Apple to invent colored phones on Sept. 10".

This AC headline pretty much sums it up.

I will be sure to miss that, the only even that matters is the Samsung one tomorrow and the Note 3 announcement.

Wondering if you've passed 1,000 thumb downs yet. A 5.7" smartphone that you need a backpack to carry..... boy that's what I want. Guessing it will have 50% available ram.
Keep wondering. Also, keep showing everyone that you still don't know what RAM is, while firmly believing that a "one size fits all" solution is the answer to everything. Gee, fanboism at it's worst (the ignorant type).

There is no comparison between Samsung and apple, not even in the same league at all.
