Tom's Guide: 22 Free Apps for New Windows Users

With the holiday season and subsequent sales well and truly behind us, it's likely a few of you have acquired new computers in the last couple of month. If you're new to Windows, it can be a bit daunting trying to figure out how to make your computer feels like home. The Tom's Guide team recently put together a round-up of some of the great free apps available for new Windows users. Be sure to check out '22 Free Apps for New Windows Users' to ensure your new computer doesn't go without.

While smartphones and tablets may have the edge on portability, there's still nothing (yet) that beats the raw power, configurability, and wealth of options available to a desktop user. Still, taking advantage of all the power that a desktop can bring takes some learning, a little patience, and a good helping of the right apps to make the most out of your desktop machine. You supply the patience, and we'll help out with a list of apps for new users.

Be smart stay away from tiles, I mean the unofficial US Government but partially written by Windows. Don't believe look up NSA works with MS on Vista which is basically the same back door kernel as 7 and 8. Ubuntu or OS X both based off UNIX is better.
