Huge Supermarket Data Breach Exposes 4.2 Million Accounts
Next newsPortland (Maine) - A huge security break at the Hannaford Bros. grocery chain has exposed more than 4 million credit card and debit card numbers. So far, the pilfered numbers have led to 1800 cases of fraud. The chain says the numbers were stolen during the card authorization process and that it affects customers in the Northeast portion of the country along with Florida.
While 4 million numbers is certainly nothing to sneeze at, it pales in comparison to the TJ Maxx debacle in 2005 which exposed almost 46 million credit card accounts.
