EA Takes 'Medal of Honor' Series "Out of Rotation"

Due to Warfighter's poor showing, there will no longer be anymore Medal of Honors.

After thirteen years of the first person shooter series, Medal of Honor is finally being retired. After Warfighter's poor showing last year, game critics predicted that EA was going to be shelving the series. This was confirmed at the publisher's third quarter financial call.

"The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers," EA COO Peter Moore said. "Critics were polarized and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved. This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings."

With an over-saturated FPS market, it's no surprise that the series has been given the boot despite its past successes. There's simply no room for Medal of Honor, especially if EA wants to focus on Call of Duty-killing with the Battlefield series.

    I remember MOHAA, fun game online until kids starting hacking the crap out of it.

    I'll miss ya MOH. Today, FPS's are everywhere and none of them bring any originality. COD is just terrible now, focused on spamming guns like madmen running at 150mph.

    I miss the Rainbow Six days, slow paced, team work, 1-2 shot death.

    But unfortunately for that to come back we need patience, which kids lack and unfortunately kids are the focus with these FPS games.

    Oh well. Soon a Gem will shine and i'll be enjoying slow paced FPS team work gaming.

    There's a single word for EA's failures and one word that will put them back in the game:

    Origin and Steam, respectively.

    Really, EA, really. If you haven't pulled out the games from Steam, you would not be in this position AT ALL. And don't give us the "oh, Steam and their draconian TOS!". Just give them a bloody copy of the patches you put and it will be fine. Stop trying to push Origin down our throats (well, not mine; don't have any EA game with it) and then you'll sell stuff again.

    MOH (and CoD) started as awesome WW2 inspired games. They went downhill ever since.

    Couldn't agree more!

    Now if they could just "retire" the CoD series we might be back on the road to innovation in the FPS game dept.

Fanboy should Stop making assumption that everything have to be on steam to be success.

    battlefield 3 is a success without steam, Mass effect 3 is also a success without steam, how could u explain?

    A lot of people consider BF3 to be a complete fail due to DRM and the crappy Origin software you need to get with it.

    ME3 is probably considered to be the worst ME with the extremely disappointing ending.

    There is Counter Strike still for us hard core fps players :)

ME3 is probably considered to be the worst ME with the extremely disappointing ending.it the share holder eye, those 2 games are selling, it is a success. Success of the game are depends on how good the game sells, not how good are. COD series u like it or not(I hate it) it is also a success.

    I still do not see how relating steam can decide the game failure or not. Minecraft is not on steam, is it a failure? Startcraft 2 is also not coming with steam. I dont see failure either.

    Origin is just another version of steam. Steam is just slightly better. Both of them are clients. Both of them are DRM.

    Hey EA, maybe you should reconsider your own approach at the gaming industry. You damn CEO believed that it would be okay to charge $1 or 10 cents for each magazine of bullets. That's not smart profit thinking. That's insanity.

MoH however had lost the massive following it once had ever since CoD and BF3 became so popular. It might have had a chance to succeed if it was available on steam, where millions of people log in every day and are well accepting of the homepage and the interface. Not much chance to succeed with origin.
