Intel ready to ship dual-core processors
A new era for desktop CPUs has arrived with the introduction of the dual-core processor. AMD announced as early as June 2004 its plans to manufacture dual-core processors, but the first dual-core desktop processors you'll actually see in shipping systems will have Intel's name on them. Late last week we received Velocity Micro's ProMagix DCX, which features Intel's new dual-core Pentium Processor Extreme Edition 840 CPU using Intel's new 955X chipset. We expect to see systems from other vendors, Dell included, roll out shortly.
