Intel said on Tuesday that it has added an 80 GB model to its Solid-State Drive (SSD) 335 Series of performance-segment consumer SSDs, joining two existing models with 180 GB and 240 GB capacities. The company added the 180 GB model back in February for customers who want the performance but not necessarily all the space of the 240 GB model. Now there's an even smaller model with an equally smaller price point.
According to the specs, the SSDs have sustained sequential reads of up to 500 MB/s and writes up to 450 MB/s. They also have up to 42,000 IOPS 4K random read throughput, and up to 52,000 IOPS 4K random write throughput. All three connect via a SATA 3 (6 Gb/s) interface and use Intel's 20-nm MLC NAND Flash.

The 2.5-inch, 9.5-mm thick SSDs are compatible with Intel 6 Series Express chipsets, the Intel SSD Toolbox, the Intel SSD Optimizer, Intel Data Migration Software, and Intel Rapid Storage Technology. They also come with a 3.5-inch drive adapter, and a life expectancy of 1.2 million hours MTBF.
Newegg currently lists the 180 GB model for $174.99 and the 240 GB model for $219.99 – the 80 GB isn't showing up in search results (give it time). Amazon is offering both SSDs for roughly the same price, costing $176.99 for the 180 GB model and $215.26 for the 240 GB model.
