Sony Assures Fans 'The Last Guardian' Still In Development

Fans waiting for The Last Guardian had a scare yesterday when the game's trademark was abandoned, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). However, Sony was quick to respond and said the game is still in development.

The change in trademark status is due to what the company called an "administrative error." Sony Computer Entertainment America extended the trademark use three times since June 25, 2013, and the trademark process began one year before that on August 13, 2012. However, it seems that Sony didn't file a new extension for the trademark after the USPTO sent a notice of renewal on July 11, 2014.

At press time, the trademark status is still "abandoned because no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued," but Sony is reassuring fans that the game is still under development by Team Ico, which made two notable games: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

The trademark is the latest batch of news from the long-awaited title. The Last Guardian was initially for the PlayStation 3 in 2009, but the game could make its debut on the PlayStation 4 if it sees the light of day in the near future. Other than The Last Guardian, the other highly-anticipated game that players are eagerly waiting to see is Valve's Half-Life 3, but there isn't a single confirmation that the game is actually in development.

More like "still in development hell". It's 5 years late and half the team left, but don't lose hope, guys, they'll release it any day now.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the meetings where the developers justify the time it has taken so far. You gotta be pretty ballsy to keep going back for more funding after seven years.

34 words in this sentence, 34/2=17, 17, 17 is the minimum number of vertices on a graph such that, if the edges are coloured with 3 different colours, there is bound to be a monochromatic triangle. Triangles have 3 sides.

    Half Life 3 confirmed.

The Last Guardian was my reason for purchasing a PS3. Then the PS3 broke. Now it's still my sole reason to purchase a PS4. Sony, all my money waits for this game and this game only.

    Also, Half Life 3 confirmed.
