Ubisoft Shows Impressive "The Division" Snowdrop Engine

Ubisoft has uploaded a clip of its new game engine, Snowdrop. The upcoming game, Tom Clancy's 'The Division,' will run on this game engine, and from the looks of it, be quite stunning. There's a lot that can be said about the engine, but not much of it is public information yet. We could mention features such as the engine's support for a dynamic day and night cycle, weather affected surfaces, procedural destruction, support for dynamic global illumination, and the epic particle system, but you're probably better off watching the clip. So without further ado, enjoy the clip below.

The video is safe for work.

Ubisoft did announce that Tom Clancy's 'The Division' will be coming to the Xbox One, PS4, and happily, PC. Yes, when Ubisoft said 'next generation' it actually meant something.

Ya I try not to get to excited for games until I play it or at least see a review but everything I have seen does look pretty awesome.

Not hard to make a prerended video look good, e.g. Pixar films. Let's wait and see how it does in real time on real machines.

Hopefully the performance is in line with the aesthetics.

VERY cool visuals and physics. Should make for some great next-gen gaming!

My only thought about the actual game demo is, "ANOTHER post-apocalyptic outbreak game?" There have been some good ones, but it seems like the whole genre is getting overplayed now. I'll probably still play it though, if for no other reason than the nice graphics and effects!

 Yeah, unlike TV adverts they don't have to put the "Not actual gameplay footage" disclaimer at the bottom of the picture.

Seriously though, today I went back and played a few maps of Crysis Warhead and it just makes me sad that we've moved ever so slowly since then.
