In Pictures: Four More Sub-$100 Cases For Your 2013 Gaming Build

Inside The Ostrog GT

Two front-mounted four-drive cages support 3.5” hard drives, and a smaller cage behind them holds two 2.5” drives.

Ostrog GT Cable Management

A large CPU cooler support plate access hole dominates a motherboard tray that also features several rolled-edge cable access holes.

An extended side panel adds huge cable stowage behind the relatively narrow motherboard tray offset.

Ostrog GT Induction

The face panel snaps away for easy cleaning, revealing two lighted 140 mm intake fans.

A separate lead goes to the lighting switch, though standard fans without the switch lead can also be installed.

More Ostrog GT Dust Prevention

The Ostrog GT’s power supply and bottom fan mount filters are removable, though holding tabs make the process somewhat tedious.

Adding a fan to the bottom necessitates removing the 2.5” drive cage, though you can relocate 2.5" storage inside of the hard drive bays.

Ostrog GT Drive Support

A cage that holds the top four 3.5” drive bays can be removed from the Ostrog GT, extending maximum card length in slots one through six to 16.2 inches.

Two sets of mounting holes on the cage’s top and bottom allow repositioning of the case’s 2.5” drive cage.

Flip latches allow external 5.25” devices to be quickly installed and removed.

Rosewill R5

Side panel CPU, GPU, and hard drive vents highlight Rosewill’s R5 ventilation, while removable face and top filter panels add convenience.

Though mostly modern in design, a faux 3.5” bay beneath the real 5.25”-to-3.5” adapter inspires us to party like it’s 1999.

R5 Ports

A single USB 3.0 port updates an R5 top panel that also features traditional USB 2.0 and eSATA ports. Headphone and microphone jacks are found between these, and an analog fan controller is situated behind that top-panel I/O.

All of those features face straight up, encouraging floor-standing or bottom-shelf case placement.

Behind The R5

Four grommets allow pass-through for the lines of two external liquid coolers, while a single 120 mm exhaust fan removes heat from a motherboard’s CPU space.

External liquid cooling support is especially useful in a case that, by having only the traditional seven expansion slots, doesn't support a dual-slot air-cooled graphics card mounted in the motherboard’s bottom slot.

Inside The R5

Six hard drive trays and four optical drive bays dominate the R5’s interior, though noise-reducing foam on the power supply mounting hole is a nice surprise in the sub-$100 market.

R5 Cable Management

Moderate offset of the motherboard tray leaves barely enough room for a thick 24-pin ATX power lead, while flaps on cable passage grommets help to conceal cabling.

A row of ventilation holes beneath the rear exhaust fan highlights its 120 mm to 140 mm upgrade capability.

Cases are ugly. Sure they can have nice features and such. But as I've said before, this is a perfect opportunity to get the Tom's models in on the action.

Shame that more cases don't have eSATA on the front panel. I know some people prefer USB 3.0, but why not have them both?

Don't like these cases at all. Basically I hate the fact that cases hide so much of the beautiful hardware inside the PC, and make it hard to work with them, to be able to touch and feel them. I've always been running a no-case system, but I would really like something basic so it's convenient to carry it around.

Does anyone know where I can buy a case like this one here:

Better question animeman59: What's wrong with you?
halcyon, if you don't like these there are seven more in the 11-way comparison, 4 in the past and 3 on the way!
    chrisafp07--and it's already been reviewed "sometimes" http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/corsair-obsidian-550d-fractal-design-define-r4-gigabyte-luxo-m10,3356-5.html
Guys, I've never had to say this before but I'm really looking for a higher class of question. I know you can do better because I've seen it in past articles.
