The majority of PC owners still use a motherboard with an AGP slot, so in our newest edition of the VGA Charts, we show you how the older models perform in modern games compared to the current generation of AGP graphics cards. The benchmark suite consists of seven different applications, each run at three resolutions and with two different quality levels.

ATI has not taken NVIDIA's double graphics card SLI launch standing down. With CrossFire, ATI says it offers a dual-graphics card solution that lends more flexibility and offers more performance. But dare we mention the price?

Our latest VGA Chart compares 33 different graphics solutions, including Intel's integrated GMA900/i915G device and three SLI cards. Our test workup comprised no less than seven applications, three different resolutions and two different quality settings per game.

3D stereo technology has made major strides in the past few years, so we felt it was time to take a look at the state of the industry and several different 3D stereo technologies that are available. We include a discussion of autostereoscopic displays, which allow a viewer to watch 3D images without the need for 3D glasses or other aids.

Instead of only relying on performance features to distinguish its wares from the rest of the pack, Sapphire's value-add proposition involves something completely different. The vendor's graphics cards will soon come bundled with full versions of numerous games that can be tried and tested before deciding the titles you want to keep.

Compared to the previous generation of cards, the GeForce 6600 mainstream models offer great 3D performance at a very reasonable price. We take a look at nine AGP and PCIe GeForce 6600 models from various manufacturers to see how they shape up.

After decades of being an analog-only realm, the world of television is finally being transformed by digital technology. Due to competing standards and other implementation issues, the adoption of digital TV has been more of a slow evolution than a fast revolution, however. In this article we take a look at the state of the digital TV market in both the United States and Europe.

Almost every PC sold today features a 3D graphics card. But other than powering games, there's not much use for advanced 3D features. Certainly you don't need a 3D graphics card for office work, surfing the Internet and other common tasks. Are the graphics manufacturers on the wrong track?

Gigabyte's Radeon X800 Pro AGP 8x card, based on the Pro variant of Ati's R420 processor, features 12 pixel pipelines, six vertex shaders and DirectX 9.0b support. But are there enough value adds such as overclocking capabilities, bundled software and other extras that will do a gamer's machine proud?

Nvidia's latest card for the value graphics segment features TurboCache - a slower memory access alternative despite its name. We pitted the new GeForce against entry-level cards from Ati and Nvidia, as well as Intel's integrated GMA900 graphics devices and the old-guard GeForce PCX 5750.

Taiwanese graphics card maker TUL is making a name for itself in the competitive PC components industry. Their PowerColor X700 PRO PCI Express card is based on ATI's X700 reference design. How does it measure up?

MSI's RX800PRO-TD256 does not vary much from the ATi-based card specifications and Radeon X800 graphics processor on which the device is based. However, a lot of games bundled with the not-so-shabby card at least merits a second look.

Gigabyte has decided to jump ahead as the first vendor to launch a dual-core 3D graphics card for consumers based on NVIDIA graphics processors. We dissect the design and let the benchmarks determine how the device stacks up against conventional SLI solutions.

In Part IV of the Tom's Hardware Guide VGA charts, we pitted the current AGP models against each other. In Part V, it's time to take a look at the new models utilizing the PCI Express bus, including NVIDIA's SLI cards.

ATI is making additions to its PCI Express product family. With the new Radeon X850 XT PE, XT and Pro and the Radeon X800 XL and X800, product bottlenecks should soon be a thing of the past: good news for PC enthusiasts!

You want everyone to notice your graphics card's stand-out beauty, but instead it gets the face down treatment once installed in your case. Gigabyte wants to right this wrong with its GV-N68T256DH, so you can unleash the true mod potential of that glowing fan and colored heatsink.

Issues associated with graphics cards and DVI signaling may spell problems after you've spent a month's worth of rent to replace your CRT monitor with a TFT display. We detail why this is the case, how DVI works and see whether or not six cards from NVIDIA and ATi pass muster in the brave new TFT monitor world.

PCIe graphics, two graphics cards on a single board and plenty of 64-bit torque: NVIDIA's nForce 4 chipset makes this happen with two mobos from Asus and MSI. Our benchmarks and different setups underscore SLI's power, performance boosts and hiccups.

Less than 2 months after it unveiled the GeForce 6600 GT on PCI Express, NVIDIA now presents an AGP version. The same graphics chip is used, and the AGP connection works using an HSI bridge chip. How well does the combination work?

The THG Graphics Card Buyer's Guide has been written to be a guideline for the purchase of a new graphics card. It aids beginners in selecting the right model with the right feature set, and explains the newest technologies and features.
