Former Sony Ericsson CEO, Ex-Verizon CTO Joins BlackBerry

BlackBerry has announced that Sony Ericsson's former CEO and an ex-Verizon CTO have joined the company, previously known as Research In Motion.

Former Sony Ericsson CEO, Bert Nordberg, and former Verizon Communications CTO, Richard Lynch, have joined the company's board. Apparently, they won't carry out executive functions, but instead will contribute to BlackBerry with their "talent and industry knowledge."

"We are very pleased to add the talent and industry knowledge of these two respected executives to our Board," said BlackBerry Board Chair Barbara Stymiest. "We are looking forward to their contributions as we continue to drive for long-term shareholder value and seek opportunities to leverage the extraordinary BlackBerry 10 platform launched last week."

BlackBerry recently launched its much-delayed BlackBerry Z10 smartphone to commendable commercial performance in the market, with the U.S. scheduled to receive it by mid-March.
