AMD gains ground on Intel in chip production

New figures from market analyst Market Research show that Intel shipped 81.7 percent of all desktop, server and notebook processors based on the x86 instruction set in the first quarter.
This was down slightly from Intel's 83.5 percent market share in last year's first quarter.
AMD shipped 16.9 percent of x86 processors in the first quarter, which was up from its 15 percent share last year.
